Our new halfback should be

our best bet would prob be Brodie Croft ( the guarantee the 7 spot to him ) , Kyle Laybutt , Ash Taylor ( if he wants to leave GC) , Cooper Bambling

Kodi is a good player but lacks what a natural half back should we have prob been stuttering his progress by playing him as a hooker ( like as we did to Ben Hunt) and that could affect his game management.
He looks good now because we have had B.H for a few years now and used to his shit options ( bar 2015).

So you want the halfback spot guaranteed to a guy who has played 1 career NRL game? You should know by now that the Broncos don't operate in that manner, especially Wayne Bennett.

I think if Kodi does get the gig next year we still need to sign a halfback / bench untility. Reason being our deapth in the halves seems a bit of a problem especially if benji retires and Kodi as our main man. I'd like to see a decent backup option (even Darren Nichols again) to cover an injury crisis or the possibility of milf, Boyd, bird all playing origin next year. i wouldn't be against getting Jayden nikorima back firmthe right price as our bench utility/back up half/deapth.

It's a big NO to JNik.

Has seriously gone backwards since going to Sydney.

Was terrible in the residents game yesterday.

Yeah but.. Haha remember. Form is form man. Not ability. He's in a different system now. Doesn't coaching. Playing down on confidence cause he's not wanted at the club he went to after leaving the best club in the league. Sometimes players don't realize how good they've actually got it, leave for a starting spot after they haven't yet earned it or deserve it and then bam. Dropped. Homesick. Coach not paying you any attention. Can kill your confidence. Especially at 20/21

We would be able to get him back on the cheap now and roosters will be looking to offload him.

Would be good if we did look into it, as has been mentioned we will be quite light in the halves next year and if kodi gets promoted there is a bench utility spot available

So basically your saying Ben Hunt is shit? Do you get league games over in Perth or do you just form your own opinion based off nothing?

I would absolutely love to see Jnik back home. Having your brother back home and trending upwards would be good for Kodi as well and I think he , Kodi, is going real well. The Broncos are still performing to a good standard with Knik there and he's surprised me but I shouldn't have been when evidence suggests you can still win a gf with a moderate half back. Our halves are very young and I think the development still has a healthy upside.

How do you know the Roosters are looking to offload him? He has been playing well down in Wyong. How do you know JNik would willingly come back on the cheap? Most players don't jump at pay cuts. He is only 20 and is hardly at a crisis point in his career. He would be better off sticking it out where he is. There is no room for him at the Broncos anyways.

You're partially right, he may as well stay while the decent money keeps rolling in, I would but if he could get the same money, a half and half deal perhaps I'd think back home would be the shot. The guy has talent and didn't lose it by moving. I reckon there's a lot of reasons to come home and few to stay.

With regard to jnik, it doesn't hurt to ask. Its not like itll cost us anything and there's a few more valid points about playing in different structures. In the end he'll make the decision himself and good luck to him in it.

It'd be good to get him back if only to be an example to our younger guys that the money isn't everything early in your career.

He was highly rated by the broncos iirc and his career has stagnated whereas Kodi stayed and is now an NZ representative.

I don't think it's up to him to set an example considering the amount of money around the game atm. It's all speculation anyways as there is has been no indication of the Broncos wanting him back or if he even wants to come back north. Personally, I don't think either Niko will have long and fruitful NRL careers. Plenty of greater talent out there ready to take their jobs.

Roosters have knowingly invested in their long term halves Pearce, Keary and Watson. They have now also invested heavily into Teddy. Something has to give in their salary cap and large money on a utility who hasn't seen first grade in over a year is a pretty safe bet as to where they'll look to cut.

Regarding it being on the cheap it is unlikely any club would take on 100% of JNik's current contract and there is no reason why jnik would terminate the contract on mutual grounds, as you mention why would he take a pay cut, therefore roosters will have to continue to wear some of the contract if they want to get rid of him. Hence you could get him on the cheap exactly the same as Blair, Barba (sharks), Farah (bunnies) and many many more

There were reports earlier in the year that the Roosters wanted to offload him (reportedly he will be on 400k next year) especially given they are likely set in the halves with Keary and Pearce. and now Tedesco has also come on board.

So he wouldn't need to take a pay cut as the Roosters would be forced to cover part of his salary.

Even if we paid 100 of his 200. Not worst investment. Peanuts given paying established halves now 1 mill. Haven't seen much of jnik - was he a natural half in junior days?

He is reportedly on something like 400k next year.

I have always thought that Jayden was the more talented of the Nikorima brothers

Watching JNik yesterday, he doesn't seem to have a very good ball playing game at all. Even Kodi looks better.
