NEWS Pack your bags, Anthony!

Newscorp is reporting Ben Ikin has told Milford’s management he will not be offered a fresh contract and must find another club from 2022 onwards. He is expected to hit the open market immediately. Nothing on whether this will affect the rest of his season.

They said they had recruited a few halves and with their salary cap at the moment, there wasn’t enough room left for me.
Anyone else find this interesting?

It could have been the club blowing smoke to make the conversation easier, or even him bs'ing/ exagerating to make himself feel better but if it's true it would imply there's more halves coming. Unless of course they count Kelly and gamble as new recruits :/

I genuinely liked that article and started to feel a bit of sadness for Milford, reminiscing about how good he once was and the pressure he’s been under. Then I read this part:

“I still believe I have something to offer in the NRL. I believe there is a lot left in me, but I have to knuckle down and be more consistent with my training and my preparation towards a game. If I do that, I will be all right."

Straight from the horses mouth…

Benji was right, Milford is fucking lazy and with that attitude, will never live up to his potential. I can’t wait until he is another clubs lost cause.

Translation: I might need to get off my fat arse and pull my finger out for a change.

Wayne has every right to shit on the club in any way he chooses after they fucked him over. We don’t have to enjoy it but it’s exactly what should be expected from him

Totally agree. But using Milford to do so just makes him look stupid.

Sometimes there’s a lot more dignity in keeping your mouth shut. He has gone into turbo mode since Ikin’s appointment, it’s pretty clear what this is all about.

With respect to Ikin and the family situation, do you think it is a matter of "you can only have one rooster in the hen house?" and Bennett has long occupied that spot. It must be really shit for their family dynamic. Xmas and camping must be a blast.

Meanwhile his team is winning games. Do we really know what this is about or are we being distracted?

Milford has a massive victim complex doesn't he, which makes sense given his attitude. It's easier for him to shift the blame everywhere else because looking in the mirror, he's gonna see plenty of himself.

IF I do that. FMD. **** off Milford.

Sure but he washes his hands of Milf while being one of the reasons Milf turned into a flop. Wayne did not provide the half he says Milf needed. He helped in the contract for Milf (most likely), so of course he says that has nothing to do with it all. Wayne got Milf's development wrong but you don't see him ever acknowledging that do you.

Always thought it was about bennett playing round and ultimately leaving his wife for the bird from Newcastle.

In his Canberra days he had all the agility anyone could want, he's either been asked to put on a few extra kilos or he's a lazy trainer.

He lost the best asset he had, his running game.

There's really no plan B for Wayne, he's apparently made the decision to come to Brisbane. Unless the Titans offer him a role somewhere I can't see where he's getting a job next season with an active NRL club.

It would have to be with the new expansion team, which I would suggest financially isn't the role he was hoping for and in recent weeks we've seen him start to express himself about that.
