NEWS Pack your bags, Anthony!

Newscorp is reporting Ben Ikin has told Milford’s management he will not be offered a fresh contract and must find another club from 2022 onwards. He is expected to hit the open market immediately. Nothing on whether this will affect the rest of his season.

Fox Sports say that Souths are considering offering Milford a deal IF they lose Gagai.

according to Fox Sports Gagai has been offered a 1 year deal from Souths

says that we baulked at Gagai's initial request of $1.8 million over 3 years. Newcastle and Paramatta also in the picture

While a swap of Milford and Gagai is a massive upgrade, $600k per year, especially over 3 years is overs.
$450-500 for 2 years.

Wow. Walker and Milford in the halves. What could possibly go wrong.

Yeah ,no to Gagai at $ 600 000 a year. Way too inconsistent for that much cash imo.

I’m sure all of you perform your jobs to the top of your potential without any slacking off too.
If you gave me 20k a week I promise I wouldn't slack off, that's the opportunity of a lifetime to make that kind of cash over 4 years and I'd do whatever it takes to extend that.

I make good money, and I work hard for it. Now 10 years ago when I was working retail for $15 an hour, I would do everything humanly possible to slack off.

Ben Hunt isn't particularly special, and is on way overs but I never criticise him because he tries his guts out every game. I also don't criticise Croft because I can tell he tries hard he's just limited. When you make 20k a week and you turn your back to a pass, **** right off.

Isn’t Nolan an old mate of Wayne’s? I swear I remember reading that’s how he came to be employed with the broncos initially

I'm going to play Devils Advocate for Wayne.

Imagine if Peter Nolan was your GM of Football, and Paul White was your CEO.

Those two would be enough to ruin Bellamy, and Wayne knew how bad they were and couldnt do anything about it except get knifed in the back.

Bennett gave Nolan his job at the Broncos in 99. Then brought him back too.

Nolan worked with every Broncos coach- Hook while he was in NYC.

They’re family friends from Warwick. I have no doubt part of the Bennett venom this week is regarding Nolan.

My thoughts on the milford situation, just when you've convinced yourself that he shouldn't be offered a new deal, regardless of how small, you get flashbacks of his brilliance. Then get images of him tearing us apart in future years and remember he is only 26 still.

Despite that, we have 100% made the right choice and we need to part ways.

I would argue that Milfs current work ethic and commitment today are exactly the same as 2015 and piror when he was carving teams up. Anthony milfords strength is is speed and ability break the line. Like most of us, milf has aged and naturally lost a tiny bit of speed and gained some size. He does nothing different now to back then, he's just lost the element that made him great.

If Milf was the ultimate competitor and willing to work hard i would suggest his career to 2015 would have been even better but we still would have seen a slight drop in his showings, just no where near as bad as what has happened.

The amount of times the last 3 years ive seen him poke his nose through the line and been half a second from making a break, the exact kind of break he used to make, but just get tackled. And i think to myself "shit he's back he's almost there he's poking his nose through". When realistically that half a second of speed he's lost makes all the difference.

At the end of the day unless another club can change his work ethic he won't get that ability to break the line back. He will still throw the odd good ball and have an ok kicking game and maybe break the line of some poor defence but ultimately, 2015 milf is long gone, partially through no fault of his own rather natural change in his body.

I was with ya in this post right up to the last sentence. There may be some natural factors at play but you don't use as much speed as he has by 26 without letting yourself go a bit. At 26, you should be in the prime of your life.

It is annoying seeing all these excuses constantly being trotted out for the bloke, no wonder it seems difficult for him to take ownership of where it has all gone wrong when so many tell him it is always someone else's fault.

Thanks for the info! Very interesting. Almost as if Bennett had an agenda...

Milford at Souths? No way. Where would he play?

1? No.
7? No. He’s turned into the poor mans Walker over the last few years.
14? Maybe. But where does he come on?
Doesn’t have the strength or stamina to defend at 9. Likewise back row or lock. So that leaves the halves. See above.

Unless I’m missing another position, I don’t see anywhere he fits, regardless of his asking price.
