Payne Haas Arrested

Almost to the point where I wish the club would re-brand.. the most painful part of all this for those of us who’re old enough to have been fans since the early years is the seeing the gradual eroding of standards and the tarnishing of everything the Brisbane Broncos established, stood for and achieved during its first two and a bit decades of existence.. I don’t know if it’ll ever be what it was and at this point in time the most enjoyable part of watching the Broncos is old games on YouTube

Yeah honestly my patience with the club is starting to wear thin. There were immortals and just genuine legends of the game in the good old days, and a bunch of very likeable characters.

I feel like most of the club now are just stuck up douche bags that think they are good.

I don’t mind them bringing Copley, mead, Teo and Macca back, even if they aren’t the best players at least they are likeable, unlikely the rest of the squad.

Can’t intimidate an opposition forward pack so he has to intimidate cops.
Probably was singled out after a bunch of titans supporters were giving him curry, and all he said to the cop was "Ya kiddin'". Plenty of book hungry cops in the force.

Fortunately front row is the one spot we are not short of replacements.
I'm very disappointed that something like this has come up and whilst I take it we don't know all the facts, he seems to be constantly putting himself in places of trouble or getting into it.
Some stern words and serious think with regard to how he conducts himself away from football needs to happen.
TPJ has walked this path, lodge before him. Now he needs to both accept the consequences of his actions and draw a line in the sand on his future involvement or the club should do it for him.
He won't get sacked, but a suspension and limitations on his off-field activities appear warranted.
It should be made clear this is the last time his name will be mentioned in such circumstances whilst in broncos colours.
He has so much potential and I've said its not beyond the scope of imagination he makes it to be an all time great prop, but no one deserves the right to constantly drag the clubs reputation through mud.
As for cults talk of suspensions on signings after things like this, that should definitely be in the NRL's scope it would need to quite serious (domestic violence, rape, brutal assault etc) before I'd countenance it.
If we end up sacking someone for a situation like this, I'll not criticise the club, Paul white, or Kevin Walters, because for too long this crap has been left swept under the rug.
The feeling of self-entitlement needs to be cut out like a cancer.

Suspension doesn't do shit , hit him in the pocket and move on.

Exactly. i think a warning and possibly a short suspension for a first offence if its fairly minor would be sufficient. After that, it should be written into their contracts that they lose 15-20 percent of their salary for the year they commit the offence in and give it to charity.

While I fully endorse the Broncos aiming for the highest of standards within our playing group I hardly think telling a copper to **** off has besmirched the name of the club and brought the NRL into disrepute. He's a front-row forward for god's sake not a choir boy. The way the coppers in the valley talk to some folk that I 've seen should have resulted in the cops being charged. Fair dinkum!

All you guys on here calling for him to behave like an alter boy need to first take a look at your own behaviour while growing up. Sure he let himself and the club down, but his lack of vocabulary should not mean he should be crucified. He's also suffering from the Broncos factor whereas if he was a from some other club the police would probably have left him in peace and we would have heard nothing more of it.

Of course I don't know the circumstances, but FFS , young NRL players - sense of entitlement - Gold Coast is the perfect recipe for your absolute demise . Kevie better get a handle on enforcing the Riot Act or any off field shit of any kind - your gone . Sorry but from the high tide line back to the hinterland the goldie is a shithole and a trap for young players . It's been the demise of so many , the grub work down there is biblical . Socially the temptations for young people with a profile are literally everywhere you turn. I would also say there should be ramifications for their managers as well . More severe penalties for off field misbehavior should be so severe, it negates any temptation to pursue it . They want to be elite sportsmen then they must display a responsible lifestyle dedicated to it. FMD , this is not a work hard, play hard scenario for these young men, surely you can get on top of this shit KW, because whatever went on before stops the **** now .

If you believe it's any different anywhere else you're an idiot, it's just the typical young person of today. You can't blame the Goldie for people's stupidity, and there's a reason why the southern end of the Goldie is one of the fastest growing. Shithole!! my ass it is !

Well, actually, your ass is a shithole.

It's not about behaving like a choir boy, it's about backing up what he said a week ago - redeeming themselves as players and a team for last year, restoring some pride in the club.

Recognize your privilege, behave yourself in public. He's going to be a dad soon for **** sake.

Just a shame he doesn’t seem to play with the same sort of agro.
soup, I have it on good authority that Kev will be spiking his gatorade with red cordial and jack daniels before play and at half time

Well sorry Pagey if I've offended your sensibilities about the GC ,( ok maybe southern end excluded !) but I'll stand by what I said . Yes it's everywhere, and that's a valid point , but like Holdzy said the Broncos playing group should be looking for redemption not disgrace , that's more my point . Typical young people of today don't get the privilege's, the opportunity, the money , the adulation , the profile, the potential future these young Broncos players have , so there's even more onus on them to actually show some respect for the Club and the opportunities they are so generously given . Lack of respect , now that's typical of young people today , but no , yet again pre season bad press , piled on the back of being the laughing stock of the League , just isn't a better look for wooden spooner's , I would have thought mate.

Look this kind of thing has been happening since 1988 but it used to be a young player or a couple, in once instance.
I'm not even sure I can count the amount of f ups this lot have managed in the past 12 months.
If they were winning premierships Id be peeved. But when you just got the wooden spoon and your coach has had to make way, everyone should be on tenterhooks, sweating to set things right.
Once, you can be unlucky, twice maybe....but three times he's been in the news (let alone what we don't hear about) and that should be it.
The next time his name isn't mentioned in charity work or the like in the papers he should be gone.

I completely agree it isn't a good look but what team doesn't have off field issues.
I'm happy to move on and see how he responds , if he can come out firing and pull his head in im not to bothered about it
