NEWS Payne Haas retracts immediate release from Broncos then

There you go.

which is patently ridiculous because they'd need to release those two, to cover what Payne is asking for with only a tiny bit of change left over. They'd need to release JWH as well and then you're only getting CLOSE to the contract value of Haas and Fifi (combined 2.2 mil).

The timing is sus given we have a bye next week. That would’ve been a much better time. Timely announcement from his new team the Titans?

Haas is almost the one player who can hold his head up over the dreadful few years we've had. He's the one guy I can forgive for pulling a move like this, even though it does null out his goodwill and I will cheer for him to be smashed, guilt-free. Let him go imo, if we need a prop to replace him for the rest of the year bring Lodge in.

We are already paying for Lodge this year anyway, may as well utilise him…

I know it's highly unlikely, but if we flip this to nab a Walker or Walsh, it'd be a huge net positive for us.

More than anything I feel this is just plain disappointing given what we have built so far this season. So many of the boys seem to have bought in, and then you have this...

So when the Roosters end up with Smith, Haas and FIfita coming in next year, it will be interesting to see the justification from the media and Vlandys about it.
Well it’s obvious, they just do a wonderful job recruiting and retaining their juniors.

Also, they never offended anyone’s Mum and Dad during negotiations so according to @1910 that makes all players instantly forgo hundreds of thousands of dollars for the absolute Honour of playing there for little more than lunch money.

The cynical side of me is begging to call it sabotage.

I am wondering if he leaves and signs with a surrogate club in the meantime before being announced as a Rooster for 2023. Surely, they have to make it look somewhat less messed up than it actually is.

If this happens 8 weeks ago, we are all losing our shit. But with our other forwards standing up, and a few victories under our belt i am calmer with the situation. We could take advantage of the situation, we dont have to release him, but we could for an appropriate trade (top tier spine player).

I just wish these grubs would be honest from the get go. If its all about money, which he has basically said anyway, then be clear. If he doesnt think we can challenge and want to go to a ( supposed ) better club, then come out and say it.
