NEWS Payne Haas retracts immediate release from Broncos then

One thing I will say, I don't think linebreaks are what good props are measured on? It's more to do with run metres, post contact metres and tackles.

Does anyone want them to come to an agreement to keep him here? I'd rather he left.
18 months ago I would of said we need to keep him as we'd lost a few guys like Walsh, Fifita, Coates, Boyd etc and apart from a injured Kotoni he was our only real star, Haas was the guy who was really the face of our club our only rep player. Milford could be thrown in too but he wasn't playing well for a while.

Right now we don't need him, guys like Carrigan, Keenan, Jensen, Hetherington, Flegler even Kennedy are stepping up and being our force in his position with Willison and Te Kura coming through.
We've got guys like Cobbo, Ezra, Herbie, Riki, Gamble starting to be faces of our club. Oates has found himself again.
Reynolds, Capewell are our leaders
Payne isn't our only origin player no more he isn't our star player carrying the team.

Nah, he’s Wombo!

I've been sitting back reading all the comments re Haas and I'm still trying to come to terms with the whole saga.
One thing I know is that no way should the Broncos pay him any more money than what his current contract is worth.
I think we should try and settle things down till the end of the season and then piss him off.
But in no way should we pay any money to any club to get rid of him, they must pay full value or no deal.
Looks like Roosters might be his preferred destination so I'd consider swapping him for Lindsay Collins +$ 400,000 or a straight swap for Manu.
Unfortunately I've lost total respect for Payne now and will find it impossible to support him in any way, the hungry money grabbing ****. **** him and his manager. 😡

Can someone please direct me to the podcast someone posted earlier with Kempy? Cant find it again

Haven’t been keeping fully up to date with what’s true or not but if the rumours of him being upset about being treated differently are true wtf did he expect?
One of our highest paid players goes out and threatens to bash a cop after other indiscretions and he expects to be treated the same as a kid making his first offence? **** that pea hearted, kid brained ****.

Let the wanker go. Use his money to give everyone else in the team a 10% pay rise.

We should split it up into back-payments to all the underpaid players who've actually won us premierships. Shane Perry, Philip Lee, Harvey Howard, Kevin Campion, John Plath... all the guys who probably barely saw the equivalent of Payne's monthly salary across the length of their careers.

The NRL needs to stamp down on this. JWH is on nowhere near the same amount as Haas and they can't even get Crichton signed off. Unless they plan to move them both on for Haas, then it makes a bit more sense..
JWH makes his money in other ways.

He'd want to have the game of his life tonight, that's for sure because he's made himself public enemy no.1. He should also sack his fuckhead managers because they've brought all this heat on him, any smart manager would never do things this way. That's not say he isn't a dumb **** himself but it's bad advice for sure.
It actually just seems like extreme hardball tactics to me. Ultimately, it will achieve the same result. Payne might even get shopped around to other codes. Now he is in with that management team, he is theirs. They will take him for everything if he tries to leave. They will ship him internationally if that makes them money. They own him. He is their new cash cow.

100% This.

Fifita has turned out to be a dud BUT does/did have the potential to be a game changer. Hell, he did it a few times last year scoring triples. Your Munsters, Clearys, Teddys and Turbos (though injured every 3rd game) deserve that $1m+ tag because they'll win you a game through brilliance.

Haas IS the best frf in the game and was the shining light in an otherwise shitty two years but unfortunately forwards just don't win games. They are workhorses. I can't see another team paying him the $1m+ a year he's after. If he goes to Sydney it'll be a net loss as real estate prices are ridiculous there.
He is probably a net loss since signing with Smith (Nasser). Apparently he owes/owed the last manager 200k and now the new team will want a certain %. I wonder if they wrote his contract in such a way that it looks like less, but is actually more. He also could earn more if he gets looked after in a cheap, flippable property, which Uncle Nick could probably organise.

If we lose tonight it's 100% on Haas.

If we lose tonight we should e-mail Payne's managers:

"After careful consideration, we have decided to adjust or offer.

$50,000 less per year than our previous offer, and for each loss we sustain while the contract remains unsigned, an additional $50,000 will be deducted per season."

If a month ago you told me i would hate Haas more than Turncoates, i would have laughed at you.
I deadset want him to leave the club now.
Nothing good will come from keeping him in the side.

As others have said, he might just be the last of the rot we need to cut out (TPJ, Lodge etc).

He’s just too much of a dumb ****. Every part of him got big except his brain. Just withdraw the upgrade all together and he. An enjoy being paid $800k

Probably an unpopular opinion given 2022 form but I think Fifita is worth more than Haas every day of the week. Fifita wins games. He has some games where he scores 2 or 3 tries and wins a game on his own. Haas isn’t going to cost you games, but he doesn’t score tries or set them up so isn’t worth game breaker money.
Fifita has scored more tries in a single game than Haas has ever scored in a whole season. I don't want him back but it is a relevant point in terms of game winning money.
I'm like many who believe he is already getting too much. I wouldn't even offer him a million a season.

Feel quite similarly. I don't read much NRL gossip, but looking back at it now, it seems pretty clear he is quite trashy. The whole fight thing where his mum held the guy so his brothers could bash them. The abusing cops after a spat with the missus. The dumping of his manager and not paying what he owes. The Albert Kelly fight over a pair of shoes that cost like $200 probably.

He just seems like a cashed up bogan who can play sport well and everyone around him takes advantage of him.

850k a season would have him as the highest paid prop in the NRL, wouldn't it?

Not sure who got in his ear and told him he deserves more, you could even have an open discussion that he's not quite the best prop in the game.

He needs to develop an offload or something else, currently he just runs up to the defensive line without any real speed and carries 2-3 defenders an extra 5-8 metres, then it's a slow play the ball, we don't really benefit from those kind of carries.

He could have gone down as one of the Broncos all time great props. Bloke isnt fit to lace the boots Of Webcke.

So bitterly disappointed in him.

I'll pay someone to spit on him tonight and call him a dog ****....try and cause a scene
