NEWS Payne Haas retracts immediate release from Broncos then

Let's confirm it before we pile on.

Fair enough.

Still smells exactly like something Nasser would cook up though. A nice little leak into a reporters ear even indirectly. Even if it's untrue on Paynes part, he's going to be fielding calls from other clubs. He'll get in Paynes ear and tell him about how these numbers trump loyalty. And then nasser will be collecting his fat pay check.

The timing is soo orchestrated! Bye coming up, then origin.

I don’t want him playing for the broncos again, it’s a team sport & like the dickheads we have cut loose, he’s shown he thinks it’s all about him and he’s more important than the club.

It may be cutting our nose off to spite our face, but this team is playing as a close knit group atm and the club needs to send the message that if you don’t respect the team you don’t belong in it.

Jensen & Palasia have shown we don’t need a prop on a 800k a year, let alone a million.

Read somewhere yesterday Roosters were congratulating Uncle Nick for getting both Hass and David Fifita at the expense of two of their players whose name escapes me but they were named.
Was this on twitter Gaz?

I saw something similar there.

Players I would release him in exchange for:

1. Grant
2. Cleary
3. Papenhuyzen
4. Manu
5. Munster
6. Walker

That's it. Otherwise let him sit out the next few years. He's contracted to us and if we stand firm then there's not a damn thing any other team, the NRL or the moron of a player himself can do about it.
Kerry?

I guess it's not official until the Broncos grant him his release. But if his agent is walking away from the table this hard and this publicly - as a gambit - I would not only let Payne go but refuse to deal with this agent again.

I think you mean Keary?

If so then no. Not for the sort of money he will be demanding. If he wants to come up here to partner Reynolds for 600k a year or something than by all means.

Broncs upgraded his contract for zero appreciation. I'd let him go to the Roosters for a Brandon Smith, Suaali or Sam Walker or trade him for a quality spine player from another team. Win-win.

The dolphins are the only team in the comp that would have the space to sign him. There is no way in hell the broncos will chip a cent in for him to play for someone else if they were even to entertain releasing him.

Under the new leadership they'll sooner tell him to suck it up until 2024, and if he decides to crack the sulks and play badly then he can enjoy Qcup.

I think its been mentioned but for the rest of this year it is only ~400k of cap to get him now...i imagine plenty of teams would have that kind of space, or could find it quickly...

Fairfax also reporting it, and citing their own source "close to negotiations." This is very obviously via his agent.

A source within the Haas camp said: “We haven’t thought about other clubs. Let’s be frank, the other 16 clubs would want him.”

Of course they would want him. Important detail is for more than 800k?

Agents should be investigated for this crap, requesting a release is not a good faith negotiating choice.
