Listening to those in the media who would be privvy to the inside info like Lockyer saying the boos will stop, or Freddy saying he wasnt concerned about the distraction for origin camp...just makes it sound like he's not going anywhere.

Just my gut thought that management tried to make a splash, realised they ballsed it up, but Payne wants to stay. Hopefully the manager has his tail between his legs speaking to Ikin and DD, before some sort of announcement will be made trying to downplay it all and that he will at least see out his contract.

Being the "best" whatever isn't just about what you do on the field it's also about what kind of bloke you are (think Petero or Webcke) ... if you need another example look at Matt Lodge and how long it took him to drag himself out of the mire (worth noting that He was never booed by Bronxnation). If he stays, and I'm one that hopes he doesn't, he's got a tonne of work to do on his image. Like a cheating partner or a fair-weather friend ... he won't be trusted by us or by the fans of whichever mob he joins when this shitshow is over. Your highest paid guys are not only on the field getting you wins there also the guys you take along to special luncheons, functions, send out to schools to be role models etc

So that's 6 Broncos in Origin, 4 Roosters.

Even Penrith only has 6 players in Origin. All for NSW.

They have had 4 more retire in the last season, added to that they have Angus Crichton who usually makes the side, Keary is a former SOO Blue and Australian player.

Naiqama - is a Fijian International Rep and captain.

If you want a release... fine we will release you at the end of the year with zero pay out from us, you have week to decide so we can future plan, otherwise you will be forced to honour your current contract.

Meanwhile we poached Souths' coach, who they wanted to keep. Melbourne's CEO who they wanted to keep. Souths' captain, who they wanted to keep. We got Kurt Capewell from Penrith, who they wanted to keep. Etc, etc.

I don't think the Roosters are anything special when it comes to their acquisitions.
