Surely there are other forms of sponsorship the NRL can look at that aren't gambling and alcohol related.....

As Jed said....they removed tobacco from advertising a decade or so ago. So why not booze and gambling as well.......?

Its really the gambling of late (last few years) thats spiralled out of control....its fucken everywhere. Hasn't Laurie Daley recently started a show on Fox that is purely about football betting....? The booze advertising seems to me to be very subtle.....gambling is not only in your face...but its being shoved down our throats as well.

More than happy to support his stance on the gambling being removed off his jersey. Good on him. But like others have said, is he willing to have his pay packet reduced by, say, 20% to account for the revenue that will no longer be brought in? That $1 million a year or so he is seeking is now sitting around the $800k that he is currently on with us.

Not really the same thing though. Haas quietly walking into a leagues club isn’t the same as him promoting it on his clothing while in stadium of 30 thousand and televised to millions - many children.

As i said earlier, i think both alcohol and gambling should be cleared out of our game however, as they're helping pay the players' wages at present ALL the team should be wearing the jersey with the sponsors on it.

To try and get special dispensation is just another sure sign of an unwillingness to be part of a team. Letting the rest of the team take the strain is just simply wrong. This individualism in a team sport just has to stop. Especially when it's our team!

Fucking this. I love a punt and even I'm over it. They frequently run the same bloody sports bet ad twice in one block of ads. It's bullshit.
