PLAYER Payne Haas

This is typical clickbait trash. Every single club wants him, so they’ll probably just write the same article with a different club next week.
That's a bit harsh. These Payne stories are probably all legit, and genuinely interesting to followers of whichever club's after him, but as Broncos' fans we've heard it all before.

Anything that falls outside of what we already know is news to us, thus ruling out the following, which are mostly facts:

1. Every club plus the NFL and ARU has declared interest, some are rumoured to have flashed big money at him. As you say, by rights, we should hear every club individually mentioned. So far it's only a handful. And few are credible.
2. His mum's case is in legal flux, but regardless of her representation she's likely to remain incarcerated in SEQ for years.
3. The Broncos are in ongoing talks with him. He must by now know what the club is willing to offer. All we can do is wait.
4. His agent thinks he'll stay. Walters says he thinks he'll stay. But even Payne probably doesn't know and he keeps telling us he's 100% focused on this season, not on worrying about his next contract. He keeps saying he has an agent to worry about that. And in the process, has been acting impeccably. It's only us fans who are in impatient hysterics.
5. Money is, of course, important. But so is the lure of a premiership, meaning he might be prepared to take a shave to stay.
6. He's rumoured to be concerned about his long term prospects. He might not want to switch codes for big money and then be spat out a few years later. He might be attracted by a pathway into captaincy, coaching, etc.
7. He appears to have made good friends at the Broncos. Patty refers to him as a best mate. But he's also tight with David Fifita, who ultimately left for ridiculous money.
8. He's prone to being influenced by his high profile Islamic cohort, most of whom are based in Sydney and treated their clubs and business associates ruthlessly.
TL;DR It's a fair while since we've had anything that's news to us.

Good summary, in essence we are desensitised to all the Haas trollop because its literally been going on for years. I 100% believe that even if he decides to sign elsewhere we will still be a successful football club. the likes of Carrigan, Jensen, Marty, Heatherington all showing the young guns like Willison and Te Kura how its done.

I watched Willison play the last few weeks closely. He draws 3-4 Defenders every single run. Its such an advantage to have a bloke like him coming through.

Ultimately if he stays, great. If he leaves, we will be fine.

Yep, I think you have to imagine what it must be like if you're a Knights fan and you hear your club is going after Payne. Might be the first time you even thought about him, so you'd be either pumped as **** or worried about your cap being blown.

We live and breathe the motions of everyone on our roster so it's like Groundhog Day with him. I think we tend to fall into the trap of imagining it's all about us.

Our management of these young players seems to have improved remarkably since Kevy took over. When Siebold was at the helm I think he debuted like 11 new players or something ridiculous the year we got the spoon.. I mean WTF? Kevy seems to ensure they all do an apprenticeship in Qcup ignoring how good they are and are only dripfed NRL which I think has done wonders to their confidence. He obviously is very stubborn with this strategy because we lost Walsh off the back of it putting him behind Isaako back in 2021.

If you look back on this forum you can see some very harsh criticism of players like Carrigan, Riki and the like. They were never bad players, just inexperienced and were pushed into the spotlight selfishly so the incompetent coach could try and save face

Journalists aren't even people as far as I am concerned, their whole gig is based around manipulating the way people think to build interest to click on their article.

I don't give a flying **** about what they have to say at this point.

Journalists don't write headlines.

Well if you're going to badmouth an entire profession it might help if you could learn the basics of what they do.

I don't care who does what role. The industry is scum. I understand why it exists, I understand how it works, and I understand that there are different levels of scummery involved and not everyone deserves the same level of scorn. I can't even begrudge them the fact that the primary motive is money, that's business, right? But in order to do so, they prey upon people's fears, their vices, and more often than not their hatred and outrage. They actively work to polarise the public, isolate their bias and pit groups against each other. And they deliberately manipulate the facts in order to give the community false perceptions and drive the ideals and agendas of faceless people. All for the money. So I hold the industry somewhere between drug dealers and political lobbyists. Grudgingly necessary for some people, but not part of an ideal world that I'd like to exist in.

The only thing worse than a journo.......is a wannabe journo, like McCunt.
