I'm a Wallace fan and like to defend him where I can, I've followed this thread, but haven't found a desire to comment as I've found the conversation interesting enough not to add my know-nothing opinion. But, given the possession we had, Wallace should have found a way to get us one more try to win the game. He didn't so he should be critisised for that. However to say that he is only first grade quality is a bit short-sighted. Wallace was fantastic towards the end of last season and was imo the main reason we made our charge towards the Grand Final. Imo he has the class, he just needs to regain the confidence. I think having a settled team after the Origin period will help him a lot. He barely had the same combination at the start of the season and then was out injured for a while mid season, so it hasn't been easy for him.

the halfback is supposed to be that rudder.

Now is when i wish Wallace was Dutch..

And we're not touching our *****. Well.. I'm touching my ****.

Genuine question but has the speed of the game rendered most playmakers extinct?

Anyone know when Wallace is contracted too? Somebody in the Broncos signing thread said he had been linked with Manly......

End of 2012 I thought. Or maybe end of 2011. Either way, the Broncos would be having to release him and they seem more than happy with him right now so don't see why they would.

There's no chance he'll be released. That being said I wouldn't mind him being released if it means we get Cronk, now that is a guy I would love to have and judging by his manager saying Cronk won't take a cent pay cut who knows what might happen.

i thought all of the big 4 said they would take pay cuts .. eusa_think

He was better tonight but still needs to fix up his kicking game he hits the wingers and fullback on the full to often. Lets see him be consistent.

Cronk's manager said in an article yesterday (quoted not heresay) that he wouldn't expect Cronk to take a cent paycut so interesting what happens there.

To be fair everytime Wallace go the ball to kick he was under huge pressure from the defence. Wallace was good tonight IMO but so i dont get pasited by somebody his kicks did hit the fullback and wingers on the full. But he was always under pressure so i cant blame him.

Darren was superior in his kicking, but Wallace had a very solid overal game and even laid out 2 tries, even though he was a bit lucky with the second one...

TBH its the best i have seen Darren kick ever!! His placement was amazing and hardly ever hit the FB or wingers on the full!@!@! I agree wallace was solid tonight. A few of his passes were off but he did pick up a few of his toes. Once again he was inspirational in D.

Hardly lucky, that pass was sensational him and locky are one of the few players in the team who would have pulled that off.

Forget his attack, his defense is freaking sensational and that relieves a lot of pressure off Locky, he's almost always first with the kick chance, he cuts down blokes twice his size. It's not all attack, IMO he's the best defensive half in the comp is very handy in attack but that's where Locky takes over, they complement each other well.

Thats the key Locky and Wallace complement each other very well.

thats it isn't it... when we signed Wallace we were looking for a decent player that could take the pressure of Lockyer so he didn't have to do everything himself... thats exactly what we got. Locky is still our main play maker but Wallace gives good back up to him and they both link well with their outside men.

they said it in commentary tonight that the Broncos were one of the best teams in the comp in terms of their backline movement (and plays) and Wallace along with Lockyer is a big part of that.
