Darren was superior in his kicking, but Wallace had a very solid overal game and even laid out 2 tries, even though he was a bit lucky with the second one...
Hardly lucky, that pass was sensational him and locky are one of the few players in the team who would have pulled that off.

Forget his attack, his defense is freaking sensational and that relieves a lot of pressure off Locky, he's almost always first with the kick chance, he cuts down blokes twice his size. It's not all attack, IMO he's the best defensive half in the comp is very handy in attack but that's where Locky takes over, they complement each other well.

Thats the key Locky and Wallace complement each other very well.

thats it isn't it... when we signed Wallace we were looking for a decent player that could take the pressure of Lockyer so he didn't have to do everything himself... thats exactly what we got. Locky is still our main play maker but Wallace gives good back up to him and they both link well with their outside men.

they said it in commentary tonight that the Broncos were one of the best teams in the comp in terms of their backline movement (and plays) and Wallace along with Lockyer is a big part of that.

All we want is consistency!!

As I said on the topic a page back, once the team is settled and Wallace can get in a rhythm with his backline and have the forwards running on to his inside passes we can really threaten this competition. Played well tonight, not amazingly, but very solid and complemented Lockyer well.

Wallace made quite a few bad passes tonight, wasn't that impressed to be honest.

Yeah he was better tonight but he hit a few guys in the ankles and knees with passes as well. He looks so much better with Lockyer there because he isn't depended on nearly as much. Some of his mid/long range kicks were so straight for Presto who was dangerous all night running it back, we should have been hitting the wingers every time.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGHHHH!!!

Wallace is the halfback! He's as important as the five-eighth, and being a senior player (5 years first grade experience now) he should be able to step up and take control if the other half is off his game.

Langer, Thurston, Johns, Jones were/are masters at performing even if their 6 was/is off their game. No Wallace isn't at their level and it's not fair to compare him to true champion halfbacks when Wallace is nothing more than a solid first grader. But that's all I'm saying, Wallace is a solid first grader. He's not a match winner.

Except that one time when he snapped the field goal against us. [icon_evillaugh [icon_evillaugh [icon_evillaugh

Once hailed as the answer to the halves crisis which has plagued NSW throughout Queensland's five-year dominance of State of Origin football, Wallace appeared to have been all but forgotten this season as the Blues slumped to a 3-0 series defeat.

Pearce has subsequently won the support of NSW selectors.

The irony for Wallace, 24, is that he feels he is playing his best football in 2010.

So there we have it Wallace feels he is playing his best right now.

Even funnier is that people like Sterlo and Johns agree with him, but what do they know, they were sh!tty halfbacks themselves anyway! [icon_shady
Let's just go with the real experts here at BHQ... [icon_lol1.

If he thinks he's playing his best... probably time to get fired.

I hate the pr!ck, but he is killing it at the moment, so what's your point? Hayne is worthless?

When two of the best half backs to ever play the game think that Wallace has upped his game in the last month and is close to his best, it's stupid of me to agree with it because some people at BHQ think otherwise.
But when Thaiday says that a play with no influence in the game momentum (albeit inspirational) was the turning point, it's stupid to doubt it. Yeah, let's go with that... [eusa_doh

Just because two people said it, doesn't make it true.

Do you honestly think Wallace is playing his best footy?

If what he is offering at the moment, is he best, well that's not good enough IMO.

Forget it ning. You and I are on our Pat Malone on this one.

my point is that youre basically saying 'johns and sterlo are saying hes in career best form, so it must be true because they were good players'. thats not how it works.

thaiday speaking on behalf of a team and when they 'turned a corner' in a match is completely different to 2 commentators saying they think someones playing his best footy [eusa_doh

I think he was playing better last year just before he broke his ankle, but tbh I don't think he is that far off at this point, at least nowhere near as bad as some people are trying to imply.
I get the feeling that if he doesn't perform at a Thurston or Johns level everytime, he gets bagged like if he was a Fitzhenry... [icon_shru

It's not only those two, it's actually the general opinion of other club supporters that play against us. That was the case in the games against the Tigers and Panthers as well as Souths, although the Sandow show on that one almost made it compulsory... [icon_lol1.

I'm not saying that because they say that, it must be true. I am saying that their opinion, starting with the fact they were halfbacks (and very good ones) themselves, is much more valid than yours and other posters on this forum!
The same way you say that Thaiday's view is more valid than mine. You can't have the cake and eat it too!

You tried to invalidate their opinion byt talking about the Hayne train, but you know very well that is generalised hysteria because he strung up a few good games and is a freak at the moment. There's no denying that!
Of course, it also leads to idiotic comparisons like the ones in the other thread... [icon_shru

In Wallace's case, they have nothing to jizz about, but do give the opinion on what they see and I do believe that while he's not there yet (his elbow might have something to do with that), Wallace is getting close to his best.
(see my previous answer to Ning...)
