I thought Wallace's grubber for the BURT try was amazing, if only he could repeat that more often...

But....BURT played for the opposition....ohhh, I see what you did there!

He had a corker earlier in the year too, setup a try for Benji Marshall with a great kick to Farah.

Ah ok. Must confess I chucked a tanty when Mateo yet again got an easy offload away and Burt scored with 10 to go and went and played Xbox to shoot at some tards online. [icon_lol1.

Utterly sick of the Broncos' passive defence against ball players.

Me too, we are passive in D and in attack and I am starting to think it is deliberate to gain a speed advantage.

Believe me it doesn't work, I played in a side that tried it and we got rolled over so easily, all we did was speed up the opposition and didn't hurt anyone which is what someone needed to do to Mateo, any player who exposes their ribs like that needs to have a shot put on them.

Hayne too. They're guys you can bash out of a game.

Mateo last night was pretty much unstoppable what they needed to do was rush up on him (which we never did) and also cover the guys that could get his offloads because the amount of times they made big metres off unmarked second phase last night was insane.

You always do.

The last few weeks he has been one of our best. I agree he was only sound for the first half of the season, but IMO he's starting to hit his straps. Kicking game has been fantastic and his running game last night in the absence of Locky was great. What is your actual criticism of him from last night?

Well for one his kicking game was below par IMO. His cross field kicks for Folau were too low and deep, not giving Folau enough time to get there and have an adequate challenge. His general field kicking game was OK apart from the one that went out on the full and resulted in Reddy's try, which IMO turned the game back in the Eels' favour.

In the first 15 minutes I think he overplayed things when we were on attack - tried going too wide too early, too much sideways movement. Again, not helped by having Gillett as his offsider, but as the halfback he was responsible to work some plays in tight to try and set something up out wide.

Too often as well he got tackled, not because he took on the line but because he didn't have anyone to pass to and got the ball with nowhere to go. You can blame his runners for it, but he clearly didn't communicate what he wanted from his outside men (his job as playmaker).

It wasn't his worst game, and certainly better than he was circa the Tigers/Panthers debacles, but with Locky out we needed him to step up to another level and he didn't.

The most obvious thing that people seem to ignore is that a half back depends greatly on the kind of service he gets. Yesterday was the worst hooker display of the season by both the young kids that played there and it showed.

It's too late for this season, but I think the current hooker experiment has to end.
Next year, either bring in Kurt Baptiste from the U20's, who seriously sh!ts all over Macca and Hunt put together, or go with Wallace in the position and Hunt as HB.

I'm very much warming up to the latter option as Wallace would speed up the play, has the defensive ability to cope with the demands of the position, and an excellent kicking game, while I believe that Hunt has the talent to florish as a good HB next to Locky.

my opinion on the cross field kicks is this, folau is the numbr 1 jumper in the game (my opinion) why is it this year it been useless? for me its the angle he is coming from, push him out on the wing on last play to avoid the traffic and it will also make it more difficult for defenders to block with out running interference.

agreed. Wallace' defense is amazing. but hes a halfback, so it should be his attack that flourishes. Wallace should move to hooker and put Hunt at half.

Anyone who bags him for tonight just doesn't have a clue. He was under so much pressure when Ivan put Gillett at 5/8th being the only playmaker out there. Did have a major hand in two tries too.

However, yes Beads I will forgive you because you're on the drink!!!

And anyone who cant see how all plays stop when he gets the ball is either stupid, or just plain ignorant. He takes so long to decide what hes going to do with the ball, its laughable. Yes, having gillet there didnt help him, but so many times he got the ball with a few options, and he held the ball for so freaking long, it started to grow moss.
Anyone who makes such a comment, either hasn't seen the game, is stupid, just plain ignorant, or any combination of these...

Mate, you're in the minority if u havent noticed how slow wallace is at making decisions with the ball. Ill leave it at that

It's not that he's slow to make decisions. He gets crappy service from dummy half and then has no viable options to go to. The few times he had them, he actually took them and delivered us tries and restarts. If you watched the game without the goggles, you would probably have seen it...

Oh i agree that our service from dummy half is slow as a wet week. McCullough tends to stand up after picking up the ball before he passes it, but numerous times wallace did get the ball with a bit of space, and just went down with it. Halves shouldnt be doing that so often
