BRISBANE prop Petero Civoniceva will miss the first round of the NRL season unless he can successfully fight a grade three careless high tackle charge at the judiciary.

Civoniceva was today cited by the match review panel for his high shot that knocked out Melbourne lock Ryan Hinchcliffe in last Saturday's trial loss at North Hobart Oval.

Civoniceva can accept a one week ban with an early guilty plea, but the suspension will rise to two weeks if he opts to fight the charge and is found guilty by the NRL judiciary.

Really doesn't look any worse than the Pettybourne tackle...and that was only worth a Grade One Careless.

Something doesn't add up here.

EDIT: Maybe it's my Broncos bias....but the Pettybourne tackle looks even worse the more I see it.

I'd just take the early plea. He should make his return to Broncos colors in Brisbane anyway, #### Sydney.
