Player Movements and Rumours 2011

If folau grew a heart I would tke him back.

I can't see Hunt coming back to the Broncos - or the NRL for that matter. And quite frankly I personally wouldn't want him back in Broncos colours.

Issy I think will come back to the NRL, but I think his heart lies with the Storm and he would more than likely go back there - although he is also pretty disappointed that he never really showed his best in Broncos colours so there could be a feeling of "unfinished business" that could see him come back.

I can say for 100% fact that Cronk has zero interest in leaving the Storm at this stage.

If Bennett comes back I'd say Boyd's a certainty to return.

Not sure on Taylor, depends on how successful the Bunnies are this year I would say (although he also strikes me as a "if the money is right ....." type of player so depends how back is the chequebook we waive under his nose). But I wouldn't be too bothered not to get him back.

From rumours I heard from people who should know, Folau owes a debt of gratitude to the Storm, and especially Bellamy, but the Broncos are the club he cares most about. This was already the case before he joined us apparently... [icon_shru

As if they would come back anyway.

I would choose to earn 1.5m a year picking up shit then a third of that playing something I enjoy.

They would be crazy not to stay for the 4 years and get 6 million, that would set him up for life!

I thought the talk was just 'early days' talking about trying to lure them home at the end of their contracts

I think in Hunt's case he is off contract at the end of 2012?

Well, I for one would welcome back all of those former players listed above.

I reckon a centre combo of Hunt and Boyd would be extremely dangerous. Both are strong runners of the ball and have great footwork and passing ability. Combine that with Hoffman chipping in from fullback...it's the stuff of dreams.

But then if we sign Izzy as well...oh man, how I'd love to see him back at the club.

Hunt's a fullback, and a fullback only. Was tried out in other positions and it did no good. He's a fullback, and we have a fullback, a damn good one who I wouldn't trade for Hunt.

Izzy would be good to have back but at what price? I'd rather spend the big bucks on Cooper Cronk.

Taylor? Yeh why not. But we've got plenty of backrowers, and I'm not convinced he'd handle a front row gig. Would be good but not disappointed if we don't go after him.

Hopefully Boyd returns, he has grown so much as a player since he left.

In regards to the fullback position, with all due respect to Hoffman,he is a class player, Karmichael Hunt was in a class of his own. That's not to say Hoffman hasn't played the house down, because he has, but if Karmichael hadn't left, it would have made the transition after Lockyer that little bit easier to bear.

Hes not a rugby league player anymore let alone a FB, he also screwed a lot of people around at the club trying to re-sign him. For a while there he wasn't the best influence on the younger guys either, something the club have a surplus of atm. If he ever decides to return to league it will be as an average player and imo isn't worth the risk.

Agreed. Maybe if we didn't have a decent fullback I'd be more open to the idea but we have a very good fullback and a pretty good one as a backup, not worth risking that for Hunt.

I agree with the gist of most replies here.
As far as I'm concerned, no to Khunt for 2 reasons:
- He screwed us around a long time, knowing fully well how we were putting our eggs in his basket.
- We have a youngster in Hoffman who I believe is at least as good and has been continuously playing league unlike him, who played fumble ball for at least 3 years by then.

Yes to Folau, because he was honest and upfront with the club and there aren't many centres as good in the world, much less at the Broncos.

Yes to Boyd because he would be pretty handy in any backline position and could even be used as an emergency 5/8.

Yes to Cronk because he's an awesome halfback and Wallace could be shifted to pivot or hooker if Macca/Hunt don't perform as wished.

Yes to Taylor because he's become an 80 minute backrower with amazing ball ability and is capable of destroying defences on his own.

Order of preference: 1- Folau; 2- Cronk; 3- Taylor 4- Boyd

I wouldn't.

30 year old Cronk (which he will be at that time)

vs. one of the most talented athletes in Australia hitting his prime years.

I'd go Folau.

I'm not sure I'd want Cronk at all at that age.

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved for us to sign him during any one of the previous five years, but if we can't get him until he's 30 years old, I think we should set our sights on a younger player. Otherwise we'll just end up searching for a replacement again once Cronk retires (unless we have a young gun come through).

All this talk of Cronk is pointless though, if what FB says is true (which I believe it is).

Yeah, agreed. He's by far the most unlikely.
