BTW, I'm not at liberty to discuss the sign on terms or the contract amounts. I'm not quite on as much as Greg Inglis was, but let's just say I convinced Ivan Henjak I could contribute at least as much as Justin Hodges did last season.

Will your position be left right out?

Without Inglis we need someone else to eat all the pies.

Yep I worked it out too [icon_lol1.

I reckon now we need to get someone to email or ring into one of the league bloggers in the media and ask what they think about the Broncos' chances in 2011 and who have they signed in the lower grades. See if we can trip one of them up researching using Wikipedia :P

Wally Lewis just announced on channel 9 that The Broncos are trying to lure Willie Tonga here for next season.

And Tonga says "I'm contracted for another two season at the Cowboys"

Non-story IMO. Unless the Cowboys have salary cap issues then Tonga won't be joining us anytime soon.

I did hear that Tonga wanted out of the Cowboys not sure if it was true or if it will happen. I got the feeling the Broncos would only act if someone wanted to join the club not us chasing players

Billy Slater - As if, no way in the world would he come and anyway I'd rather the 50-100k hoffman is on than the 500k billy will be on. Although it would be worth it if only to force Inglis to stay [icon_lol1.

Asotasi - I would love to get him, if for the right price I reckon he would be awesome for us. I think he is the type of player who with a change of scenery will come good again.

Tonga - Although unlikely(lets face it Cowboys have shit backs) I would love to get him, would be a great fit for our team.

Pretty much agree with all of this.

We have absolutely no need for Slater. Of course he'd be awesome to have in the team, but there's no need whilst Hoffman keeps on impressing. I've got high hopes for Hoffman. He was definitely in our top three players last season.

I'd take Asotasi for sure, if the price was right. Obviously he wouldn't be getting anywhere near what he's on at Souths, but considering how lacklustre our front row was last season, an in-form Asotasi in tandem with Hannant would be superb.

Tonga is a no brainer. You'd be mad to turn him down if he wanted to come here. Imagine Hodges on the right and Tonga on the left! The opposition would be bricking it all night.

The current rumour doing the rounds is that the Brisbane Broncos, after missing out on Greg Inglis’ signature, are now in talks with another Melbourne Storm star, Billy Slater.
http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rumour-broncos-talks-slater-272/

does anyone honestly believe that the Storm will release Slater, because it wont happen.

apparently Tonga wants out of the Cowboys to sign with the Eels, if thats the case we should have a crack

Yeah from what i know this is pretty much how it's going down. Tonga wants out of the Cowboys, his manager has been making enquiries at a few clubs for a couple of months and after the Inglis deal fell through he decided why not try the Broncos too? But anyway I see this particular discussion now has it's own thread.

Slater is far more valuable, consistent, and talented than GI. So releasing him to keep GI would be a little silly for mine.
