Player Movements and Rumours 2012

I'd rather we just mostly keep producing our own players, and only signing ones that could really make a difference every once in a while. It's been rewarding watching all these blokes come through and begin their careers with us.
 
Yep, trust in our stock and good things will follow.

Besides, we always tend to pick up under-appreciated fringe first graders and get them to perform. Wouldn't surprise me to see something like that happen.
 
He's part of the Melbourne squad, so he lives and trains down there and only flies up for matches.

Couldn't see the point of Brisbane signing him tbh.

Maranta is definitely worth pursuing with as a winger in my opinion... unless he drops form a lot I think we might see more of him on the wing next year.
 
I hope we don't see much of Maranta...no disrespect to him, of course, just hoping Yow Yeh has a good comeback.
 
Anyone else think that we could be seeing Izzy back at the mighty broncos? Rumour has it that he will be back in the NRL next year and he would fit in perfectly to the side... it would also give reason to why the broncs have let Beale, Gagai and Teo all go without a fight

Israel Folau insists he will remain an AFL player despite appearing in the reserves last Saturday. And his coach, Kevin Sheedy, is furious at suggestions the rugby league convert won't make it.

In the second year of a four-year contract with fledgling GWS, Folau said he will "absolutely" honour the deal and revealed he needed an epidural injection to recover from a back injury which kept him out of the side for a month.

I'd rather he stay in AFL and drain as much money from their coffers as possible so everyone can see what a pathetic publicity stunt it was and how they ruined a very exciting league player.

He has a big advantage over Izzy. He's actually mobile and has stamina. Think of Folau in league, he was great for short bursts and high jumps, and then he could spend 2-3 minutes getting his breath. In AFL you simply have to be moving all the time, and it doesn't suit Folau at all.

Hunt's much better equipped physically for it.
 
Yeah I agree with what you're saying but I was more referring to Fozz about the publicity stunt "not paying off".

I mean they got one above average player and one failure so they may very well try the stunt again, if only to piss off the NRL. **** I hate the AFL.
 
Izzy is on the way back from injury that is why he is playing Reserves. Plus he just hasn't picked it up that well. Hunt is just a different beast compared to Izzy. Hunt is actually driven to be a good player while for Izzy it was always about money.

I actually think Izzy has shown more than Hunt did at the same stage of his AFL career. Still wasted in AFL though. That statement applies to both. They're banging on about Karmichael's improvement but fair dinkum look at the team he's in. Aside from the Giants he wouldn't get a start at any other club IMO.

Such a joke that Folau is rotting away in that code during what should be the prime of his RL life .. He's the worst player on the worst list in the AFL .. IMO he will look back on the years he devoted to AFL with regret when his football career is over .. Maybe he won't admit as much publicly but I've got little doubt the extra $$ he's earnt from this switch won't mean a thing to him a decade + from now ... All he'll look back on are the myriad of opportunties he missed during his sabatical of mediocrity ..
