Before they changed the judiciary penalties last year ... a grade 3 shoulder charge would have meant a 6-8 week suspension, easily

True... but cant have guys like JWH or NAS spending that much time off the field suspended so the change was definitely needed... it was mostly a change for 'the fans'

Tapau, Drinkwater and Hiku were all very lucky last night. Especially Hiku and Tapau. You cant get worse than the Hiku crusher.

and yet brandy and blockers opinion just now is drinkwater is unlucky to get 3 and should be less.

blocker is an idiot so you can forgive him but im so sick of brandy and his stupid bias. if that was a penrith player he would be pushing his agenda to give minimum 8 weeks.

pathetic.

Yeah, thats just ridiculous by them. Its at least a 5 or 6 week ban considering the injury.

Anyone who wants them to take into account the injury is a deadshit. What do we get out of it other than rubbing it in the cows face. If that’s the way you want the NRL to go forward it will do us a lot more harm than good. As a matter of a fact it will do everyone more harm than good cause you will cop the punishment and every other team will benefit. Firstly I don’t think it’s even remotely 6 weeks so that’s the first thing and secondly it was nowhere near as bad as pats tackle last year which was horrible and you all carried on like two bob watches that it shouldn’t be a suspension or far less of a suspension. Drinkwater is unlucky that Corey broke his jaw otherwise he wouldn’t get a week and rightfully so. 0 force, complete accident and he was on one foot. All force was brought by Corey and if that tackle was made on the 50 metre line and Corey didn’t break his Jaw nobody would mention it. For mine Hiku’s tackle was worse and even Taupau’s was worse but the injury brings the headline. I won’t be popular at all for this opinion but I think it’s really rough.

On the contrary at the end of the day his action did cause serious harm and also when players act like ***** for months on end about life long health care from the NRL with League associated injuries I think no player can complain about the suspension they get after that ploy.

I think the fact it was Drinkwater who doesn't have much of a record is what will save him from missing a huge stint out of the NRL, 3-4 weeks isn't that big of a deal when you break a guys jaw.

all a player has to do is come reeling out of a tackle holding his head and it will likely trigger an independent HIA anyway… player gets a 10 min break, passes HIA and returns to the field.

I think its 15 minutes now this season .
Heard commentators saying 15 .

I'm glad you explained this to me, now I feel lucky Corey didn't cop a charge for breaking his own jaw and millking the situation. Should have been sent the dog,

I don't think the refs should adjudicate based on injury but the judiciary absolutely should. He broke a guy's jaw, that deserves a punishment.

I think the fact it was Drinkwater who doesn't have much of a record is what will save him from missing a huge stint out of the NRL, 3-4 weeks isn't that big of a deal when you break a guys jaw.
But he isn’t the sole reason for the break. Yes his tackle was high but Corey brings the force. 3-4 is an atrociously long time for a tackle with no force for someone with no record. I get that the fact that he broke his jaw might be to hard to not influence the MRC’s decision but it’s not a suspension worthy tackle it’s a suspension worthy outcome and when that happens we as a game find ourselves in a real pickle.

Someone with no record should not be getting a 3-4 week suspension for that, like come off it. Whilst obviously the high tackle caused it Corey brought all the force that caused the break of the jaw, not Scott. No victim card changes that and as such under no circumstances does a low force contact with the chin/jaw region warrant a 3/4 week suspension. It’s the simple reality that needs to be swallowed. 1 or 2 is the fairest amount and even than that is taking into account the injury into the punishment which I honestly don’t want to be the case in this game for accidental non malicious tackles that awkwardly go wrong.

Week after week, play after play you lot play victim to every motherfucking thing that happens that your biases don’t approve of. Just shut the **** up. You lot only a matter of a few months ago chose your hill to die on about Pat for weeks. You demanded that injury shouldn’t be taken into account and quite frankly that tackle was disgusting he deserved 5 weeks for that. So when another player injures ours we don’t get to take the moral high ground. Not to mention Taupau got out of a very dangerous tackle himself scot-free and you all laugh like it’s our god given right. The hide and hypocrisy you lot have to carry on like pork chops about that tackle is ridiculous especially the argument you lot are all using epitomises hypocrisy.

We want this to be the path the nrl take? Patty would still be sitting on the sideline and deservedly so his tackle was awful and he is only getting one more week than Drinkwater. I can’t fathom that at all. My take here isn’t to be popular but to wake your short minded biased asses up. Pat caused an injury that caused threat to a career and Drinkwater unluckily caused a broken jaw that has sidelined Corey for half the time and we are distinguishing them as a game on the sidelines difference. The outcome sucks but there isn’t 3-4 weeks, a likely hefty fine, a substantially poor outcome to his future judicial record and a 10 in the bin that inevitably made the game unwinnable for the cows. I’m not that biased to think that is justifiable and even some of you want it to be more. 1-2 is plenty for a non-malicious low force tackle with 0 history. And even then the entire driver of a suspension in general is the injury. It’s contact sport it’s time we suck it up and learn that SHIT FUCKEN HAPPENS. We are about as fickle as our side on here when it comes to shit not going our way and the way we carry ourselves afterwards.

Contact sport, contact outcomes.

Big fucken PLAY ON! In my books

What year are you living in Fitzy? The shoulder charge has been illegal for 10 years because the ramifications are horrendous. Drinkwater committing an illegal action, came off his feet to do it and broke a player's jaw.

He's lucky it's only 3-4 weeks.

What was Billy slater smoking when he chose tuilagi over Oates for origin. Watch him pick Coates no matter how well Oates plays once he's back
Hope so. Keep our players during origin period is great but yeah Tuilagi isn't even in the same league.

Oates has legitimately been Goates for the last 18 months Tuilagi is just another dime a dozen back. Oates is made for origin. His tough carries is origin.

Coates I can honestly say has went backwards at the great development club, if not backwards certainly not forward anyway.

The more Melbourne players Slater picks the better. Broncos>QLD
