POST GAME POST GAME [Round 9, 2023] Broncos vs Rabbitohs

Capewell 6 missed tackles.

Riki 7 missed tackles (i think most of his didn’t matter as they would’ve been him trying to smash the backs and bounce off).

surely there’s better second rowers than Capewell that we can chase.
Capewell is signed until end of next year. I would be hesitant to extend him unless he has a big turnaround, right now he's Alex Glenn but can actually do the odd big play.

The only reason I don't bag him out too much is he's apparently on 400k, which is pretty cheap and it allows us to spend more elsewhere.

He does provide good experience I guess. If we have the cap space to play with I reckon we should have a go at taking Kola off Souths’ hands: they ought to be a bit tight on the cap after the Wighton signing.

KK will stay at souths for the "kulcha"... probably on less money than he's on now
Yep and just like the chooks with their billionaire fanboy and players going on about post career opportunities, souths just so happen to not only have rich diehard fans, but a Hollywood a lister. Weird how their side is so stacked.

I wish our boy Talbot was still with us :’(

Herbie and Staggs really let us down that game. Herbie is a ball hog and doesn't know how to set his winger up or how to pass the ball for that matter. Staggs only offers a hard run here and there with the occasional line break, Staggs last night cost us dearly with his lack of overall skill needed in a modern day centre.

I won't be too harsh on Madden, he did try hard and wasn't looking too out of place in that 1st half. Maddens defence needs alot of work and he was targeted by Rabbits and didn't receive much support from Herbie or Capewell.

This one out plays from our forwards were terrible as well. We were getting man handled and instead of trying to move the ball around to separate and wear them down, we just played right into the hands.

Walsh needs to be alot of active and I think he got a bit lost without Mam on the field. But it's a good learning curve for him and the whole side.

You can't win them all and the greatest teams always cop a good lose but with the return of Haas and Mam, we will come back alot stronger and better next week.

Disappointed the way we played the game.

Way too many handling errors & rushed plays without any patience what so ever.

I don’t get Why Adam doesn’t kick deep enough so that the opponents don’t get a leg up when coming from their goal line. By the time our guys goes to tackle them, they’re almost over their 30m line which is a huge bonus for them. This should & MUST change.

I reckon it’s best if Adam hands over kicking duties to someone else. Staggs? This way, he can gather around the group & hatch a plan/motivate during conversions.

As much as I’m excited about Jocks debut for us, I didn’t like one bit about him throughout the game. Missed Mam dearly.

Lot of things to overcome from yesterday’s game. Hope the team does and brace ourselves for a very difficult 5 weeks ahead. If we play to our strengths, I honestly believe we should be sweet.

I'm struggling to see what anyone saw in our backs last night. They were all making bad decisions in attack and defence. Imo, if they were on their game we are winning that last night.
meters sure were not the issue early just end of play options killing us.
would have to watch again but im wondering if cobbo is getting ahead of staggs expecting a kick from arey/walsh and is more in line with those guys when the ball makes its way to staggs

So Souths are under investigation for having an extra man on the field when we were down to 12 men.

They NRL are saying it is minor. i can't remember how we were punished when we did it many many moons ago. Maybe @Big Pete can recall.

Re: last night's game. The less said the better. I don't want to read about or discuss it.

They bombed so many opportunities.

We were dominant in the first half, even though Klown was giving them leg ups all game, but we failed to convert on any of the opportunities.

We should've had 20 points or so in the first half alone, but instead we were down by 6... and the tries we conceded were extremely soft.

1st try is an undefended grubber on last tackle (seriously ... what the **** happened there)
2nd is one off the ruck from a scrum and multiple soft attempts at tackling
3rd is a middling cross field kick where Herbie gets bullied off the ball.

Herbie is then binned and the game is over.

Yeah mate I covered it right away.

TL;DR Arrow and Moale came onto replace Burgess and Tatola. Only Tatola came off for a number of tackles. The last time an incident like this occurred, Melbourne were fined $5000 against the Roosters. It appears unless the game is close (eg Round 2 2009 Bulldogs/Panthers) they'll leave the points alone.

Brisbane argued the touch judge official was to blame for the mix-up. I still believe they paid a fine, but they had the points re-instated.

Thanks mate.

Doesn't seem like the Webcke/Parker incident where Webcke was being taken off the field. But of course, it's a "minor" incident this time so no question of Souths losing the two points even temporarily.

Parker ignored the interchange offical telling him he can’t go on.

Well we faced this situation in the early 2000's and ended up being fined for it after challenging the NRL over it. TBH give them the fine and move on, it had no real effect on the game.
