It was like a barn door tackle, because the arm was out as well as the leg.

But sticking the leg out is always going to be considered a trip, these days atleast where everything is heavily scrutinized.

Yeah, virtually any foul play became 10 in the bin. So even cannonballs, fractionally late hits, crushers etc. all had the potential to be binned.

Brisbane aren't the only victims here, but I do think they're getting carried away. Especially on things like the hip drop tackle. We can cry until the cows come home about Payne Haas, but the worst was still that Jacob Preston sin-bin.
the preston one i physically cringed it was that bad a call lol

Looked to me like they put the cue back in the rack somewhat after Herbie went off. They looked beaten.
It appears as though we are still a bunch of dumb, soft, mental midgets......

A trip used to be an automatic send off......its one of those things you just can't do

like a spear tackle....

If it was with no arm and blatantly sticking out, I could easily see it being so tbh.

South Sydney will reportedly cop a fine worth in the region of $10,000 to $20,000 and won’t lose any competition points, for having too many players on the field.

no reports at this stage about action taken against the interchange official
To be honest i think its fair. It had no impact on the result or even the score and was purely a stuff up.
As for the dispute about walsh getting the team going forward. Thats not his job. Hes there to exploit gaps and weaknesses.
Thats pretty hard to do if your team is being stifled in metres.
The other fullbacks mentioned are far older and more experienced as leaders in the team.
Lets blame the go forward where it belongs: with our pack. Thats on them. Our backs were sloppy too and i guess no one will walk away unscathed from this match review.
I think though palasia especially needs to lift his game as hes hanging on by a thread.
For that matter the whole bench was soft. We seemed to go backwards after the first interchange rotation.

Presser.

Badel to Reyno. You’ve played a lot of football with Campbell Graham Adam - do you think he’s ready for NSW origin selection?

Reyno. He’s a quality player who’s played for Australia. - does that answer your question?
😂
Got what he needed. Ex team mate/captain, Origin player, opposition captain.

He'll be writing an Origin piece. He wasn't trying to learn something. He needed him on record.

Also not the first time Adam has given that kind of answer. He gave the same about Walsh.

None of those guys can consistently get a team moving forward without a strong bunch of forwards. Sure they can come up with great plays that can inspire their team, just as Walsh has shown he can in his short career.
I agree with you there. I guess the stipulation is, he has shown he can yet without Haas. But they have shown they can with Haas and without Walsh. Obviously it's only round 9, and he might do that. But Walsh's lack of attacking impact is why only 6 points were scored. That and Staggs has rocks for brains.

Trying to find something a bit comical amongst the train wreck. No so serious- lighten up. Not the end of the world yet.

I've noticed Adam has borrowed from Wayne's script when it comes to fluffing up other players, whether they're teammates or opposition. He's light on both praise and criticism. He tends to deflect.

FMD, it’s one game without Haas. Like Billy Slater said, these two teams could play again tomorrow and the scores could be reversed. Rabbits were on, Broncs weren’t on the night. Big deal.

Broncos ran one out which made themselves easy targets for gang tackles .
Running in pairs / groups could have made the defence have to wait to see who has the ball .
Then when they were getting bullied in the tackles team mates stood back and watched instead of lending their weight to the ball carrier to stop them being pushed back .

Twice now I have seen late offloads intercepted by the opposition and the momentum shifted . That needs attention .

1% ers that make a big difference .

A disappointing loss, made more so by us allowing the score to blow out a tad.

We were right in the first half....arguably, we were the better team.

We had chances....and we blew them. They had chances and they took them.

Our young and rising stars must learn to be patient. I'd be giving staggs and Walsh extra laps to run at training. That Staggs rush of blood was a bit of a game changer for mine......

Anyway......no need to panic.
Lets just get the team back on the park and start working towards next week.

One thing Capes did really well lastnight was that run from left to right through the middle of Souths to get the ball to Reyno. It was great vision. He saw he had Madden with him surrounded by red and green on the left but there were numbers and space to the right, so he goes into the guts of the middle defence to get Reyno the ball and get it out to our strike centre Staggs....who promptly throws a very forward pass to Cobbo who had a clear run to the line from 40m out. I nearly threw my rum at the TV, so frustrating.

I blame Cobbo's positioning on that more then Staggs pass.

really wish there was a list of sin bins and what they were for im sure in the last 5 years ive seen trips be nothing more than a penalty on report and move on,there is a list of send offs for the nrl era and the only trip that was a send off was in 99 by matt ridge and i have a feeling he kicked at the legs of the player.
but whatever move on and crush pies seaguls
Hess got sinbinned for a trip against the Sharks the night before, so I guess it would have looked really bad to let Herbie get off.

Except nobody had any idea that Herbie tripped anyone... the play continued on and it was the bunker that brought it 30m back up field.

For Hess the sharks took a dive to stop play and then soaked it up ... Ronaldo picked a fight and Ramien refused to get up until the bunker watched the video

Doesn't matter. It's still a sin-bin offence, so by the rules they are able to go back even after play moved on. Sucks for us, but is at least consistent.

What's the go with players helping the ball carrier drive forward. Have seen it slot this year. I was sure it's not allowed. I thought the rule was just for "lending weight" so as to not "lose" ground. I didn't think they were allowed to help drive forwards
