Good first half display, bombed too many chances then got overrun second half. As much as we missed Payne, i dont think he makes much difference to what cost us that game. Out outside backs and Madden were awful. Carrigan and Arey the only 2 who really stood up tonight imo.

Maybe i bought into the hype, Thought we had a decent group of forwards but i'm thinking if we take Payne or Patty out of this pack we dont have enough quality to cover their loss. Tbf, i dont think our forwards tonight made many bad errors, and they play well off the back of those two, but its way too much to ask either Payne or Patty to carry them if one is missing against the better sides. I think Kevvies forward rotation tonight was horrible. Its no coincidence we have got more out of Payne by not playing him in huge stints anymore.

I know we're missing key players, but there are some concerns that have been there for a few weeks now.

- The defensive resilience from the opening weeks of the season has gone. It seems they want to out-gun the opposition
- We need more on attack from our 2nd rowers who play ~80mins every week. they give us next to nothing on that end. In Capewell's case, it's both ends
- There's no patience from the team, especially our outside backs. They don't like building pressure and want to score off every set

If anyone thinks Haas and Mam (we were still winning without Oates) are the difference between a win and a 26-point loss, then that just makes us a bad team that overly relies on individual brilliance.

I think we have the potential to win the whole damn thing, but we need to improve on a few areas as the season goes on

Capewell is aging in dog years since his 2020 season. Looking more exhausted and run down each week.

If not for Reyno and Pat we lose that by 50.

Staggs and Herbie were obviously complete rubbish…:but to be honest I was the most disappointed in Flegler, I thought he wanted to be the main man and he was really ordinary tonight. Didn’t stand up and lay a platform, absolutely no sting in him. Sad.

I hope that we take a lot of lessons from this game. Lots of things not to like. Unfortunately, it was one of those games where everything went against us.

Bit hard to tell if we were actually ill-disciplined or Klein was taking some crazy pills, but they got a lot of leg ups in their half.

I was really enjoying it at half time but the second half we came out flat and were punished accordingly.

Few key cogs missing yes, but we need to be able to play at a high level without our some of our starters. Yes, Ezra and Payne are key players, but the next man up mentality wasn't there in that second half.

One shining light (if you can call it that) is that all the tries were pretty much scored in Madden's channel - and fortunately, Ezra is a gun defender.

Also, i doubt both Herbie and Kotoni have such a shit game again this season.

We’re copping it delux online and rightfully so, most of us knew it was coming and everyone knew it was coming.

we lack polish and class, if we don’t win next week I genuinely think we’re praying for top 8.

This is very possible at the end of the season...the start is the easier part of our year.

Pat pretty scathing of that effort tonight. He's spot on when he says you cant blame having players out for a loss like that. You just cant expect to win a game when pretty much all your backline and your 6 just dont turn up.

Our second half kick offs played a big factor in the second half dominance, souths were catching it 20-30 metres out getting them on a roll straight away.
Taking the 2 points early when they were down to 12 men wasn't the best idea, we did the same last week when it wasn't needed.
We bombed at minimum 3 tries.
Apart from Pat our middles were soft, Flegler needed to step up but didn't.
Reynolds played probably his best game this year but the team didn't go with him very disappointing.

Flegler was pretty timid tonight.

I agree Pat did all he could, but I do think Reynolds can be a bit frantic sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, I like that he chances his hand, but I think sometimes he should be encouraging everyone to just put their heads down and run hard until they gain some momentum to attack off the back of.

The fact we create chances off the back foot shows how potent our attack is, but it could be even better if we first sought to gain ascendancy before taking our shots.

Might be overeacting a bit, but my worry about spending so much of our cap on two props basically still has me worried. We need another edge back rower and we will need a better replacement for Flegler on a lesser salary. I just dont think our cap is well balanced enough yet.
