POST MORTEM. Cowboys Broncs Grand Final.

****!

I'm still devastated. Every time I think "oh well there's next year" I think there was fucking this year as well and we fucking had it. ****!

This. If we lost 40-0 then I'd probably feel better. Because I'd be able to say it wasn't our year and we weren't quite ready. But we fucking had it. It was our year. Too much goes in to get to a GF to just assume we'll be there next year. Or one of the next 5 years. No co-incidence that both teams were pretty much full strength, only MCGuire of note. In 2008 we were a chance. In 2011 we were a chance. 2009 and 2010 we were close until we lost Wallace and Lockyer respectively. Why is 2016 or 2017 going to be any different to those? Or we lose Hunt or Milford and we have a 2007. The only argument against that is that previously we were losing a Hunt, a Bennett, a Folau, whereas from now we remain largely intact and arguably better.

But we missed our chance, a deserved and just premiership, I'll maintain that opinion, because of one fucking tackle. Nothing right now tells me that we can expect another chance.

Got to give it to Feldt. The kickoff was never going to Hunt until the last minute, it was coming down to Boyd beside the post and spiraled left in the last bit of the drop.

They will always have this over us..

We can beat them as many times as we want in regular games.. But they will always have that Grand Final victory.

That's one of the things that hurts the most.

They sure as shit won't be making the Grand Final anytime soon so we may never get the chance to get revenge on them. I expect them to drop off a bit now that they have finally won one. There won't be as much hunger. Just like Souths.

Yep I'm down again about it. The siren went off as feldt went over. We were that close im sure some of our players were getting ready to celebrate. Complacent for a second and we lose it. Hodges I'm so sorry.

I thought I was over the loss.

I'm not, each time the news etc talks about the best GF ever played, the TV is turned off.

Also over it, that Thurston is just one step closer to becoming the first living Saint. (The way media are going on)

I swear someone will say, he saved a puppy from drowning before the game. (I bet he threw the puppy in the water)

Yeah, I've unfollowed everything on Facebook that mentions the Grand Final. NRL, Broncos, Maroon Crusade, Queensland Maroons etc.. I've also purposely avoided NRL.com, the Broncos site, Fox Sports and I haven't watched a replay yet.

The wife saw my FB and said "You're such a bad loser. Everyone else on here says the Cowboys played great and deserved the win".

No football for six months. No tests , nada. Makes it even worse somehow.

The ONLY thing that will help us overcome this heart breaking loss - is winning another premiership ASAP. That's it, and even then it won't erase the feelings of this loss. Nothing will EVER take this pain away, but winning the comp will surely help massively.

I thought the 2008 Semi against the Storm was the worst thing ever... & then this Grand Final came along, wow.

Disappointed but we NEED to win the premiership to truly feel better & prove all the critics, haters & ourselves wrong.

If this loss doesn't motivate the boys to be absolutely ruthless next season & go one step further - then I'll be even MORE disappointed.

Imagine we go on and win a few comps in a row? I think THAT will truly put this Grand Final loss in the coffin but it's so difficult to win back to back premierships.

And what is it with guys like Tallis, Brent Tate etc cheering for the Cowboys? They actually wanted them to win the GF. Where's the fucking loyalty? The Broncos gave you your shot & made you the players you were & you won premierships at our club, even captained the club. Why go for the Cowboys? Disgusting. No loyalty. I want us to win the comp so bad next season so we can shut all the critics up!

Tate did retire playing for the Cowboys so that is fair enough.

Everything in this post is my thoughts exactly.

2008 will always be worse for me. The image of Locky screaming in agony in the in-goal will never be topped.

On the Tate/Tallis thing, once a player plays for another club, they're a little entitled to support them, so Tate gets a pass.

Tallis can get in the sea. I would be happy to erase his playing career with us at the rate he's going. His vendetta against Wayne has gone way too far. He is the only ex-player/'legend' to constantly shit on us at every turn. **** that guy.

For mine, it was more than one tackle. We lost because of a number of reasons: mainly errors, poor kicking, loss of structure in attack (except for that 1st try) poor communication between play makers and support runners, an odd 2nd half game plan which seemed to throw everything out of kilter... and that tackle.

Having said that, we got to the GF and only lost by 1 point. We were a team nobody gave a chance at the start of the season, yet we were largely the same team that got to the GF.

Next year, we have what looks like largely the same team, actually, better with Moose and hopefully Gavet. Next year, we know what to do to get to the GF because we have been there, knows what it takes, knows what it means, knows what not to do again.

Next year, EVERYTHING tells me we have every chance.

We have every chance to claim it next year, as long as injuries don't cruel us and that's unfortunately a very real possibility.

Sucks so much to play well the whole season, win all the big matches, and be ahead in the grand final with a second to go, and then go on and lose in GP less 2 minutes in. I don't know if I can ever get over it, only a premiership next year would make me get over it and it's seriously hard to win a GF so I can only hope.

This is going to be a long off season
