POST MORTEM. Cowboys Broncs Grand Final.

of course.......

winning is MORE entertaining

I didn't really have a problem with the Broncos gameplan of kicking it out.

They tried to finish the game, but the Cowboys were getting away with murder in the ruck and we were just a bit off in attack.

The Broncos should have gone for a few field goals, instead of kicking for touch all the time.

Thoughts.

We tried to defend a four point lead against the Cowboys for half an hour, I feldt (pardon the pun) that we were going to get burnt when I looked up at the clock with 1m40s left, we weathered one set after Hunt's spear tackle and it looked like we were finally going to ice the game when Milford made a break.

Somehow Feldt got the ball and they basically strolled down field, Blair's desperation lunge at JT misses, Parker gets there too late too.

Reed gets turned inside out, Oates thinks Morgan is through and Morgan gets the Gidley flick away to basically win the game.

I doubt we would have got far enough down the field to take a shot in GP anyway, Cows tails were up and they probably would have won in the end.

Just read an article and saw a picture where JT was super lucky to strike the field goal like he did. **** that shit.

How do we ever get over this? If we don't make the gf next year the pain never ends. Such a bad loss

You don't.

Ask Tigers and Manly fans. Even though both clubs have won a premiership since then, the memories of 1989 and 1997 still hurt them to this day. Being successful on Grand Final day will make you feel better, but this Grand Final loss will always hurt.

Credit to anyone who has the guts to watch a replay or even highlights of the game.

I just can't do it. I can't bring myself to watch it.

Everything seems shitty now. Its like there is no point to anything anymore. I feel like quitting my job and joining a cult or something.

Congratulations to the Cowboys, but I hope this is the end to any lovey-dovey attitudes towards our rivalry. Next year I want their blood. I hope we absolutely fucking kill them when we next meet.

I tell you what. I am so sick of being told it's okay because it was a ripper of a match and that at least we lost to a Queensland side. **** off. It's not Origin, I don't care about the Cowboys, I don't care about Thurston, and I don't care about Queensland. I'm from Brisbane, I support the Broncos and any other team can get fucked! I don't care if for the layman fan it was an amazing game. To me it was the most horrifying experience, and after the FG was kicked, I wasn't sure if I wanted to cry or throw up. Sorry, I just need to vent a little.

except in 97 the scores were tied on the final play . We were in front ...........Even worse .

I totally agree with Wayne re how much golden point sucks. I liked the old days . Let them slog it out in extra time for 5 minutes each way. and then if it's all square replay the GF. If it is an ordinary club game , call it a draw after 80 minutes .

Which game in 97? We dominated from start to finish.

Speaking of 97, this loss really does put into perspective how amazing it is that we managed to win 6 of these things within a 19 year period. It now seems so hard to win, but at the time it felt like it was pretty easy.

Arthur Summons is saying make Thurston an immortal now.

Rugby league legend Arthur Summons says the code should break with tradition and make Johnathan Thurston an Immortal now.

The former Wests captain, whose own place in league was immortalised as one half of the Norm Provan-Arthur Summons NRL trophy, says the Cowboys star has done enough to warrant the honour before he retires.

If that was to happen Thurston would be the first of the eight Immortals to be anointed while he was still playing.

Make Thurston an Immortal now: Summons

Also why is twitter/facebook etc going into a loving meltdown over Thurston's daughter having a black doll.

When I was a child (when the dinosaurs roamed the earth) I had a black doll & no one gave a shit.

Thurston can **** off. He wasn't even their best player.

Bloody hell, before the year started, I thought Thurston was getting overrated. But this, this is nuts. He has only ever lead his team to one premiership! He has also lead his team to (tied) most season losses twice, but no one remembers that.
