Why are you going on with this if you didn't watch the interview?

I don't care about what the media writes or asks. Their job is to sell papers, that's it.

I watch Rugby League, not what Pete "the scoop" Badel has to ask the players.

You're talking out of your arse again. He said it in a TV interview without prompting. And he said it multiple times. I think once was in a sideline interview. There was an interview on NRL.com. And, just to give you a massive boner, he said it here. Doesn't matter who the reporter was in this case, these are his words and there's no pinning it on someone else:

The relevance wrt to this thread is whether he will be given a chance to try out at fullback in this trial, because it might be his only chance. It has nothing to do with your bigoted ill-informed opinion of some reporter, whoever they might be.

Yeah no sorry if I didn't make that clear I meant madden was turning 23. However playing on that point there is absolutely nothing wrong with Ahearn I think there is a role for him in a lot of teams 17 in the NRL not just getting a contract at all. Good, experienced player who has genuine versatility where he can pull out an outstanding match consistently in either 7, 6 or 1 but I just meant that in general I think we have the least to gain from starting the train and trial player when we have a development and at the time I thought Madden was fit. But look Ahearn is a great player and if this is a sign he is close to signing with us whether that be development or he continues his train and trial for the rest of the season I am over the moon.
No probs. Im known to have the occasional brain fart so i was checking aherns age for myself as much as anything.
Shame about madden as i too would love to see what he has to offer.
Herbie at fullback was media hyped crap, they've probably had him training there as a just in case but I doubt the club would let him hold them at ransom and not sign a deal unless he was promised fullback

It's got as much credibility as when Kotoni re-signed with the promise of playing 5/8
Yeah that kind of attitude is poison to a team and herbie doesnt strike me that way. He will want to advance his career but there will be plenty of development for him in the centres and i see him as a hodges type figure down the track with a bit of licence to roam eventually.
He not there yet though and developing his ball playing skills is more than enough of a challenge (and a likely pay rise when it becomes a feature of his game.

Bayliss-Brow starting, seems he is working his way of the pecking order, good to see.
It’s good to see he is getting the opportunity but he hasn’t really moved up the pecking order when it’s process of elimination down to him. Te Kura isn’t really an option to start and Marty has been here for a week so it’s more so a case of just getting him a chance to play some footy and gain some match time so he is a bit more ready. In saying this it does appear they are relying upon Logan a bit more now in his output and game time which truly is good to see.

Herbie doesn’t care about fullback. He knows the go with Walsh there and has accepted that.
Yeah I think the fact Herbie was having talks to extend the other week says it doesn't bother him.

A potentially persuasive argument except the fine chap you're addressing insists they weren't having such talks but were merely enjoying a succulent Chinese meal.

I don't think Herbie cared about fullback as much as people made out he did.

He said in an interview he would be keen to give it a crack at some point, but at no point did he imply it was a must for him.

No, he wanted a go at it but it's nowhere near as big a deal as it's being made out to be.

Yes, like I was saying he specifically said he wants to play there this year - and said it more than once - and spoke to Kevvie about it. Kevvie said despite Walsh's arrival the position was up for grabs and everyone (Niu, Cobbo, Farnworth and Walsh) would have the chance to compete for it. Lockyer said on Channel 9 there was no guarantees he'd get it.

If they want to give him a crack, this is the game to do it in. Obviously, the position is Walsh's, just as left centre is Herbie's - we all know that - but trials are the chance to try out other players in these positions, especially the first proper trial.

None of us have seen Herbie at fullback in the NRL - well I haven't - yet many are convinced that's his position. It would be nice to get expectations cross checked against reality.

Herbie seems to have locked down that England centre spot yeah?

Who is CONVINCED that's his position? I don't recall seeing that on here at all. I have seen people suggest they think he could potentially play there well and I am one of them but most, if not all, would like him to stay where he is from what I've seen.

I think he should get a crack there this game just incase Walsh goes down during the season then he has atleast had a run there. Selwyn has played there before but from what I've seen from Selwyn when he's been put there at NRL I think I'd rather Herbie without even knowing what he's like in the position.
If Sailor gets added to the 30 then he probably jumps up to second string.

He got run over under the posts by Side Show Bob from Wynnum .
Looked disinterested for parts of the game . Failed to impress me .

He was set to play a game at # 1 .
Then an injury during warm up caused a reshuffle . And the greatest athlete ever seen moved to #1 and Herbie has never got another chance .
