I like the 1 - 13 but that bench has no impact. Shillington's form warrants selection and I think he take thaidays place. Thaiday doesnt make many metres playing for the broncos and will make even less in origin. Shillington is tough as nails and has been in great form this year. Time he got a go.

Honestly I think Shillington is a bit over-rated around these parts. He is solid enough but lacks that little bit extra needed for Origin. Tonight for example he only made 20 tackles and 8 hitups, and only 65 metres. It's obvious as well that Shillington would get found-out fitness wise if (god forbid) an injury was a occur to either Price or Petero. Thaiday has shown this year he can go the full 80, his form warrants selection and he has been there before and got the job done.

I take your point about the bench having not much impact, so to fix that I'll swap Myles and Thaiday icon_thumbs_u

Having Crocker in the team is a huge risk imo. I'd rather have Parker in the team than Crocker. Maybe in games 2 and 3 Crocker could be in the mix, but he's only played one game in what, 9 months? Crocker reminds me a bit of Carl Webb. He's a reasonable player and can have his good days where he smashes teams, but is a bit of a myth at origin level.

Agree with Jeb: start with Thaiday...he can play up to 70 minutes anyway. Let Crocker start as well to rough up the bitches in the first 20 minutes, then bring on Myles to cause more havoc. Good combination IMO.

Only concern I'd still have is Neville Costagame. Similar player to Crocker - basically just a mongrel who goes out to cause trouble and hopefully ruffle feathers. He hasn't got much else to his game. But as I said, Queensland lack viable options in the back row.

what about shillington ...have you f--kers got your blinkers on or something ..thaiday is useless, if the game was about running sideways ..thaiday would win hands down .

That's what the selectors should pick I think. Shillington is probably fighting with Thaiday and Costigan for a bench spot. He wouldn't be out of place there.

Personally I like Shillington over Thaiday, but Thaiday over Cositgan, meaning my bench would be:

14. Hunt
15. Hannant
16. Thaiday
17. Shillington

Bit heavy perhaps? I dunno but I think one of Thaiday and Shillington will miss out.

Like Coxy said, Parker is still a while off origin. This is the first time I can recall him playing some consistent footy for Broncos, and I don't think he brings anything to the team, especially with Myles and Crocker in the back row.

I reckon Crocker is a myth at club level but really steps up at Origin level. I saw enough from him on Sunday to believe that he would handle the job fine if given the chance, and he has earnt his spot over the last 3 or 4 series. I remember in 2005, he couldn't even crack the Roosters first grade side, yet was given the chance at Origin and was by far and away our best all series. Pretty much our only good player to be honest.

Re: Shillington, he is no different to Nate Myles IMO, and we don't need 2 of those type of players in the side. Thaiday offers a lot more and can play a lot more minutes, plus has been there and got the job done before.

And I share everyone's concerns over Costigan as well, but he brings a bit of spark off the bench, and like others have said, Parker is not upto it, despite his fantastic form for the Broncos. Bit of selfishness wants me to be available for the Broncos as well [icon_wink

But yeah I'd start him in the second row. It worked well last year and the amount of defence he gets through allows guys like Thaiday to have greater impact off the bench. And I can't see Costigan contributing too much to the team at all really, much rather start with Harrison and shift Crocker back to the interchange.
