Batting averages [especially for openers ] aren`t the same lately compared to other periods ,

Not really, it's never been better time to bat- 8/10 for Test runs have all played in the last 11 years minus Border and Lara.

Border will be out of the top 10 soon when Root goes up- an opener averaging 50.

I don`t see too many averaging 50 ? More games / series to clock up runs now days .

Root is a #3 / 4 last I looked .

Lots of good fast bowlers out there . Not easy for openers .

Smith, lamshank, Williamson and root are the only 4 currently averaging above 50 in first class. Kohli and Ali are averaging 49.

Warners test average is 46, uzzie is now averaging 47.

Warner's average has nose-dived since his 300 I think. He used to average 48-49. Uzzie has done the opposite and even then, most of his career was at 3.

That opener for Pakistan and the young Indian guy that I have totally got a mental blank on look the next to do it however Indian guy currently has a test average that is like half his first class one.

Uzzie used to average something like 39 at 3, those consecutive hundreds really boosted it hey

They certainly did and then he had a prolific year and now he averages 47. He's had quite the career. 50+ tests averaging 47 puts him into the greats really, just below the all timers in the likes of Chappell, Ponting, Smith, Border, et al.
