Queensland Cup 2012 Discussion

Hey Matt, what injury does Gibb have?

Big fan of his, for my money is one of our better QCup players.

Not 100% sure, I think it may be his shoulder. He hurt it in the Devils big loss to the Dolphins.

I agree though, he'll definitely be in the frame to replace Te'o next season

Some of the most entertaining football I have ever watched at Dolphin Oval today. Redcliffe are a big red and white excitement machine!!!!!!!!! Look forward to the youtube highlights coming out so I can share with you all.

BTW Dolphins won 46-10 against Tweed.

Oh and Ryan James got a bit frustrated with the Dolphin Oval faithful and yelled out "****en rednecks. Go **** yourselves".

Ethos - How did the Tigers live stream go on Sunday?

Late reply.. but yeah it went pretty well for a first up trial. Had a few issues with the quality of the video and reports from people who said the audio was out of sync at times as well. But hopefully we can fine tune it for the next one. Only three regular season Langlands Park games left.

To Jeb also, Redcliffe are just collosal in all three grades at the moment. Going to be very hard to stop. And Ryan James does have a bit of a temper on him at times.

Will have a crack at my team shortly. Meanwhile, have a look at the tries scored by the Dolphins on Sunday.

This is what I came up with. Not sure if they usually look at younger players or whatever but here we go.

1. Joe Bond
2. Lachlan Maranta
3. Brett Anderson
4. Donald Malone
5. Liam Georgetown
6. Ty Williams
7. Luke Capewell
8. Chris Farrell
9. Jake Granville
10. Dane Carlaw
11. Nick Slyney
12. Keiron Lander
13. Luke Dalziel-Don

14. Kurt Baptiste
15. Tim Glasby
16. Jarrod Wallace
17. Joel Riethmuller

It's a tough one! I don't think you'd go too far wrong with Reddy 1-17

But Bias aside

1. J. Bond (Dolphins)
2. R. Tongia (Tigers)
3. M. Buckett (Sea Eagles)
4. B. Anderson (Pride
5. L. Georgetown (Dolphins
6. C. Walker (Tigers)
7. L. Capewell (Dolphins)
13. L. Dalziel-Don (WM Seagulls)
12. M. Dodds (WM Seagulls)
11. N. Slyney (Dolphins)
10. B. Spina (Pride)
9. J. Granville (WM Seagulls)
8. T. Glasby (Capras)

14. K. Baptise (Devils)
15. K. Lander (Jets)
16. K. Bromwich (Tigers)
17. J. Wallace (Devils)

I went for a fairly young looking side - If they go for more experience though I'd replace Buckett with Malone, Walker with Davis & Wallace with Carlaw

I think your side is looking good BroncoMatt. Fairly spot on.

Balcomb from Cutters is probably a show as well.

I'm not sure if anyone had read but Glasby from Central has signed a 2 year deal with Melbourne. He has that Storm prop build - rangy, always finds his front, solid but not spectacular (as in not going to lay people out like Dodds) defender. He's only 23.

Which is great to see. So many scouts for the NRL tend to focus way too heavily on competitions like NYC, SG Ball & MM Cup when there's better & experienced talent in the QCup & NSW Cup.

Thought Glasby was good against Norths on Sunday.

Ryan James is a deadset sand filled vagina.

Yeah, good teams. Jeb's is pretty close to what I'd go with. But in terms of trying to guess who'll the selectors choose..

1. Sean Loxley
2. Liam Georgetown
3. Brett Anderson
4. Donald Malone
5. Lachlan Maranta
6. Brad Davis
7. Luke Capewell
8. Mitch Garbutt
9. Jake Granville
10. Chris Farrell
11. Nick Slyney
12. Mitchell Dodds
13. Joel Reithmuller

14. Tim Glasby
15. Lorenzo Maafu
16. Jarrod Wallace
17. Kurt Baptiste

Official Residents Team

1. Lachlan Maranta (Norths Devils)
2. Nathanael Barnes (Wynnum Manly Seagulls)
3. Dan Wallace (Wynnum Manly Seagulls)
4. Donald Malone (Ipswich Jets)
5. Liam Georgetown (Redcliffe Dolphins)
6. Grant Rovelli (c) (Mackay Cutters)
7. Luke Capewell (Redcliffe Dolphins)
8. Charlie Gubb (Wynnum Manly Seagulls)
9. Jake Granville (Wynnum Manly Seagulls)
10. Chris Farrell (Redcliffe Dolphins)
11. Nick Slyney (Redcliffe Dolphins)
12. Jon Grieve (Wynnum Manly Seagulls)
13. Joel Riethmuller (Northern Pride)
14. Kurt Baptiste (Norths Devils)
15. Mat Pitman (Souths Logan Magpies)
16. Jarrod Wallace (Norths Devils)
17. Brendon Gibb (Norths Devils)

So what happens if any of Maranta, Capewell, Slyney, Baptiste, Wallace or Gibb are named to play for the Broncos on Friday? Does the rule them out of the residents game?

I believe they will play Friday & go into camp on Saturday morning

And while it's not surprising a few of those players have been picked on potential rather than QCup form.

I think nearly all of the Broncos contracted players are in the team, except for Dodds who was probably the most deserving on form....But I guess the selectors couldn't pick too many more Wynnum players

I got to enjoy Country Week and Yowie Park Kilcoy from the broadcasters' box today thanks to BroncoMatt.

Redcliffe continued on their winning way against Sunny Coast but were pretty ordinary in doing so. In saying that, Capewell went off injured in the first few minutes, and Farrell still out injured as well, so I reckon they'd be happy enough to walk away with the points. Capewell should be back next week.

Anyway, I reckon everyone who has the slightest interest in QCup should get themselves to Dolphin Oval next Sunday for what should be the match of the season against Wynnum. And to add a bit more incentive - free entry. You'd need a bloody good excuse not to be there!

Ethos - sounds like Easts ran away with a pretty good win today?
