Queensland Cup 2012 Discussion

Has Capewell gotten the cheap mistakes out of his game?

He's one of those players that can tear a team apart one second and then be guilty of a silly play or cheap drop. Which is fine at Q Cup level, but at the NRL it comes back and bites you hard. Which it did to Luke in his prior stints.

Capewell doesn't have a position in our team unless we lose two of our starting halves really.

I really want Gagai to get a go though.

He's not making many mistakes at the moment. I obviously haven't watched every QCup game this year but I'll be very surprised if there has been a better performer than Capewell throughout the competition so far. I think I've mentioned it in this thread a couple of times but he really is too good at that level.

Gagai might be a similar story.

As mentioned by Jeba, Capewell was the star of the show. Gagai was very good too but had a few dumb plays (kicked on the 1st tackle etc)

Baptise scored 2 excellent dummy half tries but was otherwise outplayed by Redcliffe's 3rd choice hooker
Both Redcliffe wingers look pretty handy and quick, especially Liam Georgetown. Is he any good under the high ball? :shady:

Is anyone familiar with anyone called Luke Bateman who played his 1st game on the weekend. His one of my friends at school.

He is pretty good under it actually. He is someone who I think would make ever post a winner at NRL level if he was given another chance. Unfortunately because he went to Penrith as a 20 year old and couldn't crack it, I think he has now been labeled "Not NRL Quality" . However he is a much more complete player now and has everything you need in a winger - Size, speed (would be in the Top 5 quickest in the Q Cup) , Strength, great defender and good under the high ball

Yep I seen him play some CC & MM Cup over the last couple of years. He has plenty of talent but I was surprised that they played him in Q Cup. I would of thought he was still 18 months at least off that level. Good Luck to him though. How did he go?

I like how Capewell pushes up in support. Whitchurch is a good prospect as well. What's the story with Gagai?

He's got some talent but seems to lack that killer punch to me. Seems like a determined young fella - his kicking game against Wynnum was horrendous but his performance against Norths was an indication that he worked really hard on it during the week.

Naturally talented with lots of skills but he plays too much like a touch footballer - In attack & defence

Thanks for replying. I read a article on him on the weekend, I seem to remember him and his brother playing under 20's for the dragons i think ? But i'm not to sure.

Yep both played U20s for the Dragons. John was the captain - they got released by the Dragons & switched to Rugby Union before coming up to play for Redcliffe this season

Hey Matt, what injury does Gibb have?

Big fan of his, for my money is one of our better QCup players.

Wow, Hodges was a small dude back then.
