Queensland Cup 2012 Discussion

who is the resident expert in all things QCup around these parts these days ?

this week is the last week of the local comp ... anybody care to give an analysis of the games this week ... who they think will win and where the best "upsets" might be ?

I'm sorta in a position where I need to attack on the QRL website tipping comp

Any help would be most appreciated !

Oink !

Some advice for what it's worth. Not a guru by any means!

Mackay v Wynnum
Wynnum been in poor form of late and a trip to Mackay is rarely easy. Cutters are in winning form and I reckon they'll keep it going.

Easts v Central
Easts should win easy

Redcliffe v Northern Pride
As a Dolphins' fan I'm expecting a tough contest. Pride have won 2 of their last 3 and a draw, all against teams that will play in the finals. I'll go for Redcliffe though as they are unbeatable at Dolphin Oval this season.

Norths v Ipswich
Really good contest this will be. If I was needing to attack in a tipping comp I'd tip a draw to be honest.

Sunny Coast v Burleigh
Two shit teams. I'll go Sunny Coast at home, but no confidence there.

Souths Logan v Tweed
Tweed easily.

Thanks for your thoughts fellas. Much appreciated.

I've gotta think the leader will play safe and tip all the favourites, and I don't intend to die wondering. Need to make up 5 points in 2 rounds of NRL and 1 of QCup, not easy.

You've both mentioned Norths, so they seem a good place to attack although even with my limited knowledge I know Ipswich have been going well of late.

I'm running with you Jeba. Hope your luck is in mate, cause I have no clue basically. I reckon Mackay, Sunny Coast and Norths are all outsiders. I might take them all and pray.

Thanks for your advice jeba and ethos

Actually I just read that Ipswich may have a few out due to injury and suspension so Norths would be the tip for sure.

Cutters got dominated. They've been decimated by injuries, I think of their 6 regular Cowboys only 1 was fit to play! Played Wynumm back into form I think.

Tough break for Easts - winning more games than Norths yet the Devils make the finals and the Tigers miss out!

Young Daniel Ogden seems to score plenty of tries. Anyone know why he can't get a shot at NRL level? I figure it might be because he is pretty small but I dunno.

Really good tipping above gents. Kudos. I ended up going the Pride, Norths, Sunny Coast, Cutters combo and only the cutters let us down. So perhaps some ground may be made up, will find out on Tuesday. I have a feeling I'm gonna come up a little short.

Cheers men

Easts were in the top five all year as well, until they lost in Round 21. Rough break indeed, would have liked to have seen what they could do in the finals. Ah well, such is footy.

Didn't see them play today but I think Norths are a real chance of going all the way. And how did Redcliffe go today? Anything to be too concerned about? They always seem to struggle against the Pride though, something like 1 win from 10 games.

Yep, hard to cop as an Easts supporter but if there's one team I can accept taking our spot it's Norths.

RE: Ogden, yeah that about sums it up. Small player who drifts out of games. Brisbane gave him a look in last year but it didn't eventuate into anything.

Definitely the star of the day though, his support play up the middle was a big highlight.

Broncos players were all solid but didn't really stand out. Certainly not their best games for Norths by any stretch.

Was a funny game. Pride got out to a 12-0 lead early but Redcliffe woke up and went into halftime 22-12 up. Second half was all Pride though. I always sit behind the goal posts at the end to which Redcliffe are running and hardly saw any action in the second half.

Definitely missing Capewell, despite Strasser doing some good things. 2 losses in a row heading into a week off in the Finals isn't ideal.

Player of the year awards tonight. My money is on Luke Capewell, although missing the last few games due to Broncos inclusions may cost him.

Norths advance to Week 2 after defeating the Jets 26-20.

Weekend just keeps getting better!

Spewing the Q cup Grand Final has a kick off time of 3.55pm. So who will be playing the Dolphins?

Will be live on TV though.

I reckon it'll be Tweed. They've lost Ryan James through suspension but the way he's playing and with his general sandy vagina-ness that's a good thing for them.

Yeah live tv is tops. Dolphins should get the title this year.

At the risk of sounding bias it's Redcliffe's title to lose.

However, losing your captain and forward leader can have a massive effect on a team, despite having depth in the squad to cover the loss. **** I hate Ryan James, Faz deserves to captain this team in a GF.

Bulldogs without Price, they fired up and did it for him.

I can't see anyone beating Reddy tbh.
