Q-CUP Queensland Cup 2021

I'm keen to get someones impression on wynnnum manlys fullback who got a Hattrick last week.
Listening to the Gulls audio stream right now. (Stupid QRL blocking the Gulls live feed Wynnum used to do). The commentators are saying he's having a tougher game of it today.

Josh James played Colts in a massive Souths win. Strong kicking game.
It's been an extremely tough year for the Jets but they should be better with the return of Bradley Zampech from South Sydney. I'm interested to see how he goes, he had a lot of raps on him and was a part of Souths 2019 Jersey Flegg premiership winning team when he was only 18.

It's tough to make a difference in a side that just had 92 points put on them in their last outing but there's something there for the Jets to work with.

Piakura today thought he made a solid impact. He gets quick play the balls which allowed Ahearn and Levi to do what they wanted. He’s developing a good skill of his halves can rely on him to get to a spot and get a quick play the ball.

Riki thought he tried too hard, silly flick pass and stupid sin bin.

Bullemor tried hard and was getting through some work. I feel like minutes was his goal today.

Stats to back that up- Piakura played 76 minutes, 16 hit ups for 147m but his PTB average was 2.26 sec. Didn't miss a tackle either.

The only thing I didn't like was when Norths kicked in to the in goal and he chased but sort of gave up looked like oh well he will get out he will get tackled two metres out but Solo went 105m to score. Should have been more chases than just Piakura but if he nails him in goal that's a big play.

Full second faster than Bullemor and one and half faster than Levi. He's getting between defenders and he's hard to tackle anyway but he's getting good play the balls for his halves.

Bullemor was 51 minutes but I thought it would be more than that- I question their time stat how did Riki play 72 minutes when he went to the sin bin?

Oates splits the Seagulls through the middle and has Cooper in support but decides to take the fullback on only to be grassed in a strong 1-1 tackle. Last play, Cooper takes it to the line and finds a kick for Clark-Wood who does very well to collect the ball and put it over the line to give the Magpies a half-time lead.

Cooper has been very good for the Magpies so far, unlucky not to have another try-assist to his name after the rookie Toia made a bad mistake grounding the ball (picked it up instead of just grounding it).

Berrell has been strong for the Seagulls.

That was a pretty bad hog from Oates. He's not used to passing the ball. That's the Broncos in him. Every effort is solo.

Big moment in the game.

Seagulls opened the half with two quick tries and were well on their way to scoring a third. However Berrell lost it in attempting to ground the ball and Taia found himself in the sin-bin for obstructing the 20m tap.

Cooper crosses for the Magpies and we're locked up.

22-all with just over 20 remaining.

In hindsight it was the right move, Cooper was just a metre shy of where he needed to be and Mead appeared to have him covered.

Hazard takes out the legs of Scarlett to give Seagulls a 2 point lead and then moments later the Seagulls go the length of the field to extend. Love-Henry shrugs off Tass to score a soft try.

28-22 Wynnum with just over 13 minutes remaining.

Berrell makes a meal of the kick off.

A couple of plays later Mam races onto a flat pass by Cooper to get the Magpies back on the board.

Magpies do well to avoid a goal line restart but a miss kick from Cooper on the last gives Wynnum good field position.

Campagnolo with a difficult shot nails it.

29-28 Wynnum

Only 5 to go.

Corey Oates with two magnificent runs has won it for the Magpies.

Took a bomb on his own 10m line, beat a few tackles and made it to half-way. Later on in the set, Isaako went scheming down a short side before turning it back inside to Frith. Frith threw a lovely cut-out pass down the left hand side to Paletura-Kiri who found himself into space. They played it through the hands before Corey Oates just got the ball down with a spectacular dive for the corner.

32-29 Souths Logan Magpies.

Oates a double, Mam a try of the Broncos contingent.

Wasn't Berrell a next big thing coming through for us, what happened to him? Why did we let him go? He currently looks significantly better than Turpin.
