Huge win for the Seagulls against pretty decent opposition in the Dolphins. Both teams had NRL affiliates turn out for them, including Teui Robati backing up from Friday.

This really concerns me. You would hope doing a preseason with the first grade squad would have improved his game but as you said it appears to have gone backwards. It does not say a whole lot about our coaching staff.

I worry that our staff do not have the capacity to develop/improve younger players games.

I watched the replay of the Wynnum game, Mariner was pretty much non-existent, that is pretty disappointing. Ben Farr continues to impress me. I am not sure if he will ever get an NRL shot, who knows but while inconsistent, he keeps coming. Meanwhile, I didn't know Latrell was playing 5 for Wynnum, true 'specimens' of fitness these two. That said, Matt Lyon was excellent.

Broncos need to be careful, Kelly Egan is at the Raiders now and he will be very switched on to Queensland recruitment. The Raiders have always done well out of Queensland and Peter Mullholland was always at MM games but I just get the feeling Egan will be very good at finding Queenslanders too.

Raiders Flegg side is filled with Qlders this year. Just about every round so far over half the 17 has been Qld guys.

Do you know why we let James go?

James wasn’t in our system anymore. Probably was the right choice in my opinion. Don’t really rate him. He is like 6th in line at the moment and we have youngsters like Jye Gray who will move into Q-cup in the coming years and they will obviously be prioritised over him just having a contract with the magpies (which he had signed for this season). He had an opportunity elsewhere so he took it.
