Just for the record nat Neale and mam are completely different players, so literally no point comparing those two. I thought mam was trying, but to no avail. I really think he can't do too much in this team.

I think a broncos reserve grade team is the best solution in this situation. At least we can work on combinations.

It's not missing the point, my point is that Neale was topping the tackle count in the Jets team when they were good. Neale is always going to do lots of tackles. Mam needs his forwards to step up and help. He needs some sort of platform to play off the back of. His team is dismal.

I get you love the Q-cup, it’s what you hold dear to your heart and you want to see juniors play for there clubs but quite honestly we’re aren’t in the business of making q-cup teams happy if it means they are going to delay our talent development or merely ruin a player. **** the magpies for all I care and if we can’t move Ezra Mam, which I get can’t happen this year, than seriously **** the magpies and **** the q-cup.

We are seriously disadvantaged with 3 feeder clubs with shithouse talent around our players to develop them. A reserve grade system genuinely has to come in and if not the resurrection of the nyc as a youth competition where there is a proper platform for youth players to grow cause it seems like only older heads seem to benefit from that competition. I’m sick of this competition being the death of this club. Nobody wants to play in that shit competition cause it’s just alongside and against such a shit level of footy for the vast majority of players. Doesn’t help retaining them if they don’t want to develop in a shit comp. I can’t blame them either. They run for the money cause who in there right mind wants to play that comp. Just a dull, shithouse, low quality and low exposure competition. No surprise that the epidemic of overpricing unaccomplished youngsters has occurred at the death of any real reserve grade or youth system at a high quality. I get you love it but I got news for you the players and the Broncos don’t.

Last years Wynumn were a perfect side to foster young players and they did with former nrl players, squad members and youngsters all playing in the one team. But about 1 or 2 clubs can do that a year and that’s not fair on the 5 soon to be 6 NRL clubs who have to develop there players through this system that can’t hold up to its NSW counterpart who have one team aside and a higher combination of talent in each team.

Despite most clubs only having 1 affiliate (Canterbury have 2) usually only half the players are actually contracted to the NRL teams. The rest are NSW Cup stragglers who have been going through the same motions for years now.

Clubs can't really afford to run the amount of teams that they do and will often cut corners where they can.

So my point is I don't think Melbourne, North Queensland, Brisbane or the Gold Coast have a disadvantage. I just think there's an opportunity to gain an advantage if clubs can dig into why certain clubs are struggling.

I may have posted this before so apologies if I'm repeating myself but I like what the Cowboys are doing this year. All their senior players who need a stint in reserves go to Mackay or Cairns, all the young guns play and up and comers play together for Townsville. I think the Broncos ought to do something similar.

I also don't think it's the QCup's fault the Broncos are struggling to develop talent. If anything the issue is that they did such a terrible job managing their NRL roster they started processing juniors far too quickly and got a rude awakening.

The QCup is a wonderful resource if you know how to utilise it to it's potential. Just look at what Melbourne have been able to achieve thanks in part to the competition. Brisbane themselves have been able to enjoy the fruits of that labour with Staggs, Farnworth, Hetherington, Cobbo and Robati all putting their hands up in QCup first before getting picked.

This is easier said than done as the parent club has not been the biggest bright and shining light in terms of admin over the last 15-20 years!

It would also be very hard to pull off even if we wanted to, because it would essentially be a takeover of that QLD Cup club. We'd face resistance getting that club to agree.

Clubs are reluctant to do that because they don't want to be another Toowoomba who hitches it's wagon to the Broncos and then when the Broncos move on they are like a man that never left home and when their parents die they die two weeks later.

The Broncos got rid of Ipswich and since then the Roosters, Dogs and Raiders have taken players from Ipswich State High and IGS.

If the idea is laid out properly and the chosen club feels confident that they will remain intact even if the Broncos were at a later stage to 'walk away' I'm sure it could be made to work. Once that club begins to taste sustainable success both in terms of results and positive credit for being the club responsible for ensuring the Broncos' pathway works the club would go from strength to strength.

It just has to be shown that it can be a win/win arrangement.

Mate I think you're scraping the barrel looking for negatives. Just like the clubs you have just mentioned, the Broncos are free to recruit from any other team. Indeed, just like any other club the Broncos are free to recruit from any area in Australia and the world. We just need to ensure we have a decent scouting in place to 'better' the other sides.

Mate I think you're scraping the barrel looking for negatives. Just like the clubs you have just mentioned, the Broncos are free to recruit from any other team. Indeed, just like any other club the Broncos are free to recruit from any area in Australia and the world. We just need to ensure we have a decent scouting in place to 'better' the other sides.

It's a real negative you'd need to solve, the three feeders send players to the Broncos- if they choose well it does your job for you. Cutting off that resource means you have to do it yourself- then things can get missed.

Falcons sent Hynes to the Storm- that worked out well. If the Storm had cut Falcons no way Falcons just ring Storm and say hey want Hynes?

The reserve grade competition wouldn't need to have top 30 or 40 players though. The reserve grade team I posted earlier are all under contract but if needed, the NRL should allow a lot of movement in the reserve grade competition. Clubs would need more funding from the NRL as well, but the NRL are making millions so they could spare some extra.

The QLD teams might not be disadvantaged (I disagree) but having our players spread out, playing in poor teams and being stuck at teams like Souths Logan just because that's their junior club does not benefit us at all.

I don't think it's helping Mam by playing in a team full of young fellas and those not making the move any time soon. A mix of young guys and senior players would suit him better in my opinion. Halves need to be surrounded by leaders to build on their own leadership, otherwise he will get complacent sitting on the wings doing nothing. He needs help.

The Q Cup should always exist, but the difference between Q Cup and NRL is too much and very few players can make the jump. A proper reserve grade competition, where you're playing with and against the next level of players would be beneficial to this entire competition. I get that taking those players won't be good for the Q Cup too, but that competition isn't trying to grow. Hence taking their games to their own website instead of trying to grow their audience on Kayo.

I don't think I said that matey. I want the weekly 17 picked to be picked on merit. If a contracted youngster is not up to scratch in the weekly training or is still short or lacking in skills that other squad players are exhibiting he does not get picked - simple.
