Q-CUP Queensland Cup 2023

And the squeeze on us continues. Hope DD has a plan to mitigate this sort of 'attack' on our feeder system.

The contract was up at the end of this year, just like players, coaches or staff Norths are welcome to consider what they're going to do from November.

If the Broncos saw the Norths connection as important; you'd think they would have extended it before now.

I just have to put faith in Double D, unless he’s a long term plant by the storm and the nrl…..

just kidding, maybe.

I'm not overly fussed by the loss of Norths... it seemed like it was the third feeder in terms of priority.

I think they only had a few broncos players in their squad... Piakura was there and maybe 1-2 others.

We send more players to Souths and Wynnum.

From next year onwards it will mean more players go to those two clubs, which helps in building combinations from a Broncos perspective.

Khunt and Hodgo are coaching at Souths so potentially that becomes our "reserve grade" team.

What I am more interested in is the pathways and school systems below ISC level.

I believe Gold Coast have affiliations/ partnerships with PBC and Keebra Park... I think they've moved in on Marsden as well??

Canberra had a lot of qld'ers coming directly through the Logan catchment... but I dont know if that is still happening now that we've aligned with Logan.

I want Broncos development to be happening at the school levels so players have a built up affiliation with the Broncos before they get picked up at 16 or whatever and shifted to an ISC setup biding their time until first grade.

That might already be happening, and if that's the case, then great, but it's probably where I'd want DD focussing... to ensure generations coming through aspire to become a Broncos player

Makes sense, Redcliffe is more northern than Red Hill.

Should be QRL policy, certain zones should be Broncos affiliated while the other areas should be for the Dolphins or the potential 3rd NRL team.

Enhances the rivalry

Yeah except Norths are located in Brisbane and Redcliffe isn’t

IIRC, in the statement they also talked about pathways for the Women's game.

Which seemed strange because, the Phins don't have an NRLW team ... and who knows when the NRL will expand that comp again.

It's the relationships with the schools and clubs that are important. Dolphins signed up the best 15 kids this year- eight play for Norths.

Norths are excellent for young players and development. It's more than just two Broncos having to be moved to Souths.

Look at what the Dolphins are doing- they now have from Norths, Redcliffe and up to Rockhampton with the Capras.

North Brisbane has 5000 registered juniors. Redcliffe are putting a full time staff member at Norths- Broncos didn't do that.

While the Titans were asleep at the wheel the Broncos mined the area and nearly the whole Broncos team is from the Coast. Titans have woken up now and are really good at their next gen Coast kids.

Broncos need to come back to Brisbane.

They have set up their girls' academy and are getting it right first. Norths have a QRLW team so they can feed through that.

They waited 70 years for an NRL team, they will wait three for an NRLW team and get it all set up.

Yeah that's where I'm wanting the Broncos to focus attention on.

I think you're referring to Norths and Redcliffe's approach specifically, but Logan was a gold mine for Canberra... have we been doing the same with that area since taking it back??

From the outside looking in I'd say it's been difficult for the Broncos to engage with generations coming through ever since we became the "Friday night footy" club.

Before two Friday night games we basically had a strangle hold on Sunday 4pm... which is a family friendly slot... allowing us to market directly to kids coming through.

8pm Friday or Thursday would be one of the worst slots for engaging with kids... but I would hope the Broncos ensure a strong presence at the school level to build a relationship with generations coming through.

We dont have that natural pathway built in like Redcliffe who have junior clubs with their branding, name and catchment.... Titans dont either, but they have Gold Coast and have formed partnerships with the key league schools in their catchment.

Cows are loved by Nth Qld so they will generate affiliation with their catchment automatically... as long as the club remain somewhat successful.

Getting around those issues/ constraints for the Broncos would be the challenge that I hope DD is focussing on.

Willison v Kafusi on Saturday night, be good for him.

Thoughts on getting Ipswich back, @1910 ? Surely that’s a vast growth area?

Broncos players all moved to Wynnum or Souths.
No surprises there. Does that include Colts boys?. Don't know if we have any currently but just out of curiosity.

Do you know what teams as of yet or no. Any realignment between Wynnum and Souths boys so that there isn't an overload in any position if there was one?
