Q-CUP Queensland Cup 2023

Easts go 70m from the scrum, really poor scrum defence from Souths- they're flat after two weeks off.

Mozer on and Paix off after 30.
Te Kura off after 30

Hunt is going to have to do a massive job here.

How’d Paps look?

He played 40 minutes and went off at HT. Set up the first try with a nice pass and kicked for goal.

Got into dummy half a lot to do some work. I'd say Storm would be happy with that.

Mozer nice kick for Eggerling to score.

Which means Easts score in the next three minutes.

Paix and Te Kura back on- Paix gets Te Kura one on one with Jacks- that's what they need to do more of at the moment.

That's pretty much Souths tonight, Te Kura a sort of good run, sucks in three- maybe something on the right and Sailor kicks it over the sideline.

Pereria goes on a huge run down the right, Souths go left come back and Sailor puts Robinson over.

Easts 26-24.

Three minutes to go.

Hoeter limping off. Poor day for Wynnum just completely out done by the Bears.

2 v 4 was a fizzer.

Tigers did a job on Mozer/Paix rotation-11 runs for 63m. Didn't let them get out of there at all.

Add in four errors between the two of them too.

That's a shame, though they will need to manage to still have an impact in games like that.

How did Paps go? 60mins and fairly good by the reports?

Souths were flat I’m putting that down to the two weeks off. They got better in the second half. They still need one win to secure the minor premiership.

They’re on 32 points and Bears on 31.

Paps was only 40 minutes- he was involved. Kept getting into dummy half think he just wanted the ball. He’s going to play against Norths this week. See if that’s 40 minutes again or they stretch it out.

The Brisbane Broncos are delighted to confirm that Affiliate Clubs Souths Logan Magpies and Wynnum Manly Seagulls have both extended their partnerships with the Broncos for another three years.

The partnerships for the 2024-26 seasons will continue to see NRL-contracted players allocated to play at the Magpies and Seagulls in the Hostplus Cup, along with opportunities for players to progress to the NRL.

Souths Logan and Wynnum Manly will be joined by the Burleigh Bears as the Broncos’ three affiliates for 2024-26, after the Bears committed to joining forces with Brisbane last month.

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said: “We draw real strength from our relationships with our Affiliate Clubs – they play a vital role in our pursuit of success and development of our talent base.

“Our Affiliate partnerships provide a true connection to grassroots rugby league and a talent pathway that produces benefits we can all share in as a result.

“We are really proud of the long-term relationships we have with both Souths Logan and Wynnum Manly and we are delighted that those partnerships will continue for another three years.”

Souths Logan Magpies CEO Steve Bretherton said: “The great thing about our Affiliate relationship with the Broncos is that it delivers both ways – there is a legitimate pathway there for our players at NRL level through the train-and-trial system.

“Our players are getting genuine opportunities at NRL level and in turn we are able to use that to attract players to our club, while the Broncos are seeing more talent flow through as well.

“The ability to work with one of the best development arms of rugby league in the Broncos, combined with the work we do as a club across our massive catchment area – it’s something we can both be proud of.”

Wynnum Manly Seagulls CEO Wayne Weekes said: “We are excited to continue our long standing partnership with the Brisbane Broncos.

“Both organisations have a wonderful opportunity to solidify our men’s and women’s rugby league development programs to create genuine pathways and strengthen our footprint within the wider community for both brands.

“Wynnum Manly Seagulls would like to thank Brisbane Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy and Recruitment & Academy Manager Simon Scanlan for their continued support.”

Paps back out the second half.

Threw a nice pass for a GIbbons try Lots of work out of dummy half again.

FIrst time I have seen him stretch out and get moving- Wishart made a break and he supported him on the inside.

Sualauvi Faalogo absoloutely outstanding try- chip and chase a kick return and score in the oppositive corner.
