I just came back from Chermside, Brisbane at their Rebel Store.

They are offering...

ONE free World Cup ticket to NZ v PNG at Skilled Park with the purchase of ANY World Cup merchandise.

FOUR free World Cup ticket to NZ v PNG at Skilled Park with the purchase of a World Cup jersey of any nation

I just bought a World Cup scarf for $25 and got a free ticket worth at least $25

*Edit* Actually my ticket is on the 30m line! Sweeeeet!

ZOMG. That's the sort of thing the Brisbane Bears/Lions used to do to get people to go to games. Buy a cheeseburger and get a corporate box.

Jeez, they need to do this in Sydney for the games at Parra/Penrith etc.!

The GC game was going to get a pretty damn good crowd regardless IMO.

Well something worked didn't it. AFL crowds are massive, and the Lions do f'all promotion.

Averaging 28k in Brisbane... they do a bit of promotion but would hardly call their crowds "massive". Three premierships in a row inflated their average, been steadily declining since then. Broncos crowd average has increased from 20,000 to 33,000 in five years, with only one premiership...

AFL crowds in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth are massive though, granted.

Granted QLD isn't the greatest place for AFL, but those crowds are pretty strong for a league dominated city / state.

And just touching on the original point. I'm sure the Broncos have had / will have those sorts of promotions. Buy this, get a free ticket etc.

Hey Mick, re give away tixs, went to Peter Wynns on sunday before the opening etc, they also were giving away tixs to Aust v Kiwi & opening. Poor girls, couldnt even give the damn things away.

If you aren't bothered about going to the Fiji-NZ game - jersey's are cheaper at A-Mart. In fact you would be able to buy your tix to the game with the money you would save.
