RLWC 2021 Week 1 Discussion

Australia were very rusty to start this game and got better the longer the game has gone on, but based on what I've seen I think they're very beatable for the likes of NZ and England.

I don’t even think this is the best side from the squad they have and they had no warm up, they’ll get better. England has hit the ground running but were up against a horrible team with the worst rules ever in league with six agains for basically everything. This tournament will be full of blow outs as a result and therefore will be boring. If a team gets injuries and makes a few mistakes, these rules ensure they get blown off the park.

Grant really is something else

This numbering system is worse then I imagined it could be.

Seeing a 10 (Wighton) take a standard hit up and then try a wrap around play does my head in

It really is incredible how bad Milford is. I’ve seen guys at Maccas flipping burgers with more joy and passion than this guy plays with.

The thing is, Milford looks weak comparatively. He tries to pull out big hits left, right and centre and he just bounces off but perhaps even worse, he actually doesn't do anything to slow down the player he is trying to belt and this inevitably leads to a missed tackle and a half break / break to whoever he was trying to tackle. He's also become a bit of a cheap shot merchant as a result. He does a lot of niggly stuff he never used to do.

On a positive, Herbie looked great, man we need to keep him. He should have got Kotoni's money.

Just caught the replay and that numbering system is so whack. Plus the field had no metre marks either

It’s laziness in defence. Its what Chris Sandow used to do because it takes less effort than actual good defensive efforts.

The commentators comparing rugby league to rugby and said “that’s one thing rugby league has over rugby”. Good work selling the game, there’s a hundred things rugby league us over rugby Union

Even his haka was insipid. He absolutely looks like someone who doesn’t want to be there.

Welsby has to be on the radar for NRL clubs, can play soo many positions, he looked really good for england especially in the first half and he is only 21.

I think i've seen him play pretty much every positionin the backline plus at 6. England have some very good young players.

He's looked miserable since midway though 2016. The Dolphins have got a tough, experienced pack but maybe they are in trouble next season.

The Dolphins really need to find someone to come in and play halfback because Milford is no longer good enough to be a top line footy player. They should be in it up to their ears with Luke Brooks and Tom Turbobitch at this point. Brooks is a massive upgrade on anyone they already have despite not being very good himself.

1 Tommy Trbojevic
6 Kodi Nikorima
7 Luke Brooks
9 Jeremy Marshall King

is so much better than

1 Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
6 Anthony Milford
7 Sean O'Sullivan
9 Jeremy Marshall-King

Milford notwithstanding, on paper, Samoa have a reasonably strong team ... I can't believe they had 60 put on them.

Having no spine killed them. Also they have no spine.

Probably why they kept trying to play the power game which England handled really well. They muscled up in defence and the Samoan big forwards couldn't handle it.

They had no variety in attack whatsoever. The only time they really looked good was at the end of the first half when they nearly scored, but they didn't keep that up in the second half and capitulated.

England tore them apart on every part of the field. They threw the ball around and took advantage of their speed around the ruck and just completely carved them up.
