Mmmm, as always there's some truth mixed in with the shit. In this thread I was 100% civil right up until Broncosfever started with the insults. Calling me 'too old, too stupid' which set me off and a bit of a snowball effect ensued. That’s on me. Morkel refused to concede( as you have) that RK didn’t do anything wrong, a point made by lynx000 and I over reacted.

I was pissed and I got that wrong. I had answered him reasonably prior to that but he kept on with the scapegoating and false claim and again, I was pissed off. Should not have lapsed into childish name calling.

Yes, calling you a wanker was out of order but can you not admit that claiming Huge 'thinks Kennedy is an immortal in waiting' is goading and unnecessary? Obviously I don't believe such nonsense and yes, I was already hot under the collar from the unnecessary swipes. I apologise for calling you that. Can you also see that you exaggerated this 'abuse' claiming I called you 'all sorts of names' when I only called you a wanker once!

You contribute, this is not just one way.
Mate can you shut up? If you want to ruin a thread create a new whiney bitch post and go for it in there. We don’t want to see the dribble.

Nothing against you personally and you often have a good opinion but please for the love of god get over it.

On Cobbo there's not many players I can remember that have had that many errors in a game and you can still say they played good/great.
Alot were try scoring opportunities that will be easily ironed out once he gets used to playing next to Staggs, playing wing and getting his positioning right.
Once he gets those things sorted it will be like watching Yow Yeh back in that 5 jersey
He had statistical errors. But a lot of them weren’t that bad. Like dropping an attacking bomb, an accidental very slightly forward pass. Just going over the sideline before grounding, and then a couple deliberate knockdowns to stop tries. In actual gameplay, Staggs was far worse error wise.

I said before the game we need to win it up the middle and long kick game. Kevvie got them to do exactly that and executed mostly well. Souffs were never in the hunt based on the forward pack alone. We should have put 20+ on them, but execution and detail was lacking.

The good:
  • Forwards were running good lines and shaping back all while keeping it up the middle trench. H & C were brilliant. Palasia had a fantastic game too. Throw in Hetherington and a disciplined Flegler and that's a formidable pack.
  • Kelly chose his long kicks well (short kicks need a lot of work).
  • Walters deserves his spot. Looked sharp and dangerous but he also creates his outside men space. His footwork and show keeps the opposition on hold for that extra meter or two - which is enormous in today's game.
  • Energy was 90%, only as few times clocked off.
  • The team has figured out how to grind and stay in a game.

Needs work:
  • Cobbo, with all his enthusiasm just needs to learn timings. This isn't a negative, simply experience and patience.
  • Staggs could do with a little more patience also. Needs to own and pick his timings. Many times in second half, that if he went searching, there was holes everywhere in Souffs line. Doing these type of things will make him Renouf style.
  • High kicks were terribly placed most of the time.
  • Patience when camped on Souffs line. Cooler heads would have net a quicker/easier win.
Kevvie:
  • We need to show faith, he's taught them a lot and got things moving well so far.

I like his improvement and like him but I just don't think he's enough to fill the role in it's perfect form. If he's the best hooker then I want him to play the 9 not the 14.

It's like a few years ago when Australia had to have an all-rounder at any cost- anyone that got 30 runs and three wickets was the next Miller and could play a Test all because we had find our Flintoff.

I just don't understand it, for 20 years the WI didn't play spinner no matter what- didn't need to or want to- they played to their strength four quicks.

League teams think they need stuff they don't. Coach/Play to what you have. I know what about those games when your half breaks his leg and then you're stuffed- but I will cop that.
The way I see it a hooker does as much work as a middle forward, sometimes more. I don't see why they can't get a break, especially when it's such a key position in attack, we don't have anyone outstanding there that needs to play 80 minutes.

No. As long as others target me as they do I will defend myself. I have to put up with a lot of unnecessary snide remarks and when they stop I stop. If you can't see that this isn't one sided then there's nothing I can do.

Nope. I haven't been. I'd rather it dies but the shit keeps coming. I won't mention it again and hopefully others will stop hanging shit on me just because I stated the facts.

even the one when his foot went out, it was just really good work from the defender putting pressure on his legs.

FTR,

we lost both the set restarts (6 - 1 in Souths Favour) and the penalty count (7 - 5 in Souths Favour) ...

yet we won the match.

last year, with stats like that we would have folded like a cheap suit

I'm wondering how a cheap suit folds compared to an expensive one.

Yeah I loved this the most about last night. When things went against the team, no heads dropped and they put in for each other.

In fairness, Staggs had a bit of a shocker with the ball and in support play. Farnworth was practically non-existent in attack most of the game. All the excitement happened between Albert and Selwyn.

And I believe possession was against us as well.

Badel's dropped a piece absolutely gushing over the Broncos, saying they look fitter and unified under the Walters regime. He says Ballard was right to push them past their limit. That the Staggs/Cobbo edge is going to rip some teams apart and push them into the eight. He praised both Kelly and Billy, saying Albert will be 6 but Billy will make the perfect 14. Big ups for Patty, Payne, Kurt and the defence. He says:

"The sight of Broncos players charging off their line like men possessed in the final 10 minutes as Souths desperately tried to claw their way back was an emphatic sign of defensive rejuvenation."
