Gallen and JT saying this is nothing and should be ignored. It just shows how competitive and passionate they are about winning.

Meanwhile if 2 bronco players were seen arguing after a loss- there is a real culture problem at the broncos.
There is a real culture problem at Penrith and everyone knows it. His name is Jarome Luai.

They did that once a few years back. 29 penalties or something. Gus and co didn’t shut up about it so they didn’t do it again
NRL has done it to itself - just like teams encrouching inside the 10 and living there all night. The ref will pull them up a few times but won't let it get lopsided so they start getting away with it.

Refs need to be told the rules are the fucking rules, enforce them no matter how many penalties get given away.

And FFS stop the third man in shit by calling held faster.

This should make us all a little prouder of the “culture” at the club. The team is in the lounge at Sydney airport this morning, being reserved and respectful. People congratulating them, they take the time smile and be polite. The boys also held doors open for women to pass through.
That is exactly what you want to see from the boys. Play tough and aggressive, but be a REAL MAN off the field too. Very good to hear compliments from people who know the Broncos, but couldn’t care about footy. You’re on show 24/7 and you’re a role model. 👍🏻

Yep it's already being played down... whereas blow ups on the training paddock end up on the front page with a club in crisis.

In this instance the media have access to what they actually said... so they could deep dive into which play he's talking about... Luai is also arguing with one of his new second row partners (i.e. difficulty adapting to life without Kikau, inability of Garner to play the full 80, etc.)... on top of losing two in a row at home (i.e. issues for penrith moving forward to go the three-peat).

There's stories galore that the media could get out of this one incident... but they're happy to let it be swept under the rug... why??

Points that stuck in mind from last night.
1. Cobbo has no qualms about taking the hard hit ups from the back to get our sets started. He got whacked a number of times but still came back for more. However, he was taken over the sideline twice which suggests he's not a fast learner.😒
2. Oates was taken out in the air, Reyno had his legs taken out while kicking and headbutted in the back while on the ground, Staggs was collected high while on the ground. The Riff escaped punishment on every occasion. 😵
3. When Staggs was collected high the (Independent) doctor ordered him from the field. So we lost one of our gun attacking weapons for 10 minutes. It seems the Riff were the sole benefactors in this instance. Should we just ensure we make accidental or incidental contact with the oppositions star players and just wait for the (independent) doctor to call them off? Both Staggs and the earlier knock on Ponga were both nothing incidents, yet both were made to withdraw from the game.🤮
4. Our forwards were simply outstanding as a unit last night and Flegs came on I had the feeling that he was the accident just waiting to happen and was glad he was leaving us at season's end.😊
5. Twice Walters ran from DH straight into Haas. Sort your shit out Billy!😫
6. Reyno mentioned how well the "coaching staff" have been going on two separate occasions. Does he have an agenda? 😂

Well, how sweet it is! All the comments made after the game were consistent with their emphasis being put on defence in the off season, and man hasn't that what been missing for years. If this is the consistency we can maintain, then we must be a very competitive team, for sure. the boys look fit and focused. Can't wait to see if we can back this up and smash the cowgirls. Well done , Lets Go Broncos and suck that Luai.

Loved big marty coming off the bench, I think he’ll be one of the signings of the season. In Billy’s defence, he bamboozled everyone including himself with one of his runs which lead to our second try.

Just need to focus on reducing the errors to keep teams out of our 20m.

Give teams less opportunities inside our 20m, by controlling the ball and field position, then our good goal line defence has less work to do, but is then still good enough to repel what opportunities the opposition do get.

Concerning to me that Palasia was first on the field off the bench and Taupau wasn't introduced until the second half.

Hopefully Palasia isn't above him in the pecking order

Great way to start the year no doubt. Im not geting carried away, toguh test still await us early in the season.

It will be good to see Walsh out there eventually.

First win in Penrith for 14 years apparently?

Can that defensive mindset and passion endure all year?

6 straight games in Queensland - thats our draw after tonight before we head off to Darwin to play the Eels.

Dont look now but we "could" build some serious momentum in that time...

Well...when you have zero idea what you are going to do when you have the ball, what hope the opposition knowing...! :rooock::noooice:

The Panthers have once again added another cheating tactic to their arsenal. When there's two players in a tackle the dummy half drags one of them into the ruck, allowing for either only one marker to be defending or a player to be sitting in the ruck leading to a penalty. It won't be cracked down on, because they're the Panthers. But it's just another thing to add to the list of things they're allowed to do.

Just watched the replay and the Reynolds strip near the end of the game that was judged by the bunker to be propelled forward was absolutely baffling.
It clearly went backwards before hitting a leg and going forward.
Just can't work out how that decision was reached..

That's not just this year... they've been doing it for years... so do the storm, etc.

Storm have been taking markers out of play since Slater was playing... they always walk off the mark or step to the side, etc.

It's a pet hate of mine, because the attackers are not allowed to touch the defenders... it's the same as those 'driving' penalties when a player scores a try, but it's found that an attacker is touching a defender and therefore interfering and no try.

Yet here we are in 2023 where support players are basically tackling defenders when they're trying to complete a tackle.

Just watch teams when an outside back starts getting driven backwards, the Luai's of the world basically start tackling the defenders to stop the momentum.

You hate reality?

I am very happy we won. But it’s round 1 and we scraped home because of 3 calls that went our way.

I am not punching the air just yet is all.
Oh come on mate. 3 calls our way? How many of their forward passes were let go? Their 1st try alone had a couple,
their blatant stoppage of qptb were ignored all night.
Do you still think we got away with 3 calls our way? Nahh, I would argue that there are multiple attempts to take away the W from us for mine.

We’re starting our dynasty at last and this is how(with more polished approach) we will be playing from here on.
