6.51pm: Nathan Cleary has been successful in his bid to have the high tackle charge downgraded from a Grade 2 charge to a Grade 1. The Panthers halfback will now pay an $1800 fine and is free to play in his side's season opener against Brisbane on March 6.
Shoulders to the head are back on the menu boys!!!

Class action lawyers should be book marking this decision for CTE claims in the future.

NRL have officially confirmed they do not give a shit about shouldering guys in the face

National Rugby League? More like National Rugby Entertainment

Shocked that Roger Ramjet was charged in the first place.

Right decision. Don't know how it was a grade 2 to begin with. He was falling. They always usually get grade 1s when that happens.

Helps the Broncos too. You don't want the idea in the back of players head that it will be easier than what it is. No excuses.

This falling in tackle has the defence of this all year for any player facing the same now. Absolutely ridiculous shoulder to the head by any other player and weeks banned easily.

Sounds like the NRL deliberately threw the case.

this from the Courier Mail reporting:

The biggest surprise wasn’t that the coach represented his son, but it was that judiciary counsel Lachlan Gyles didn’t cross-examine the halfback after he gave evidence to the panel of Greg McCallum and Ryan James.
