POST GAME Round 1 - Broncos vs Eels

Well after that game if it’s only 1 of them I’m taking Milford played way better and especially him on a cut price next hear
Milford quite easily our best tonight. Turpin was good too.

We played much better and with a lot more commitment than we did last year. But I think we don’t have the roster to beat good sides like the Eels without it being a massive, rare, herculean effort. The players and fans have been let down be whoever puts the roster together, and if Kevvie can get them playing with that level of commitment for the entire season he’ll have done a great job.

Much improved effort. Were entitled to win that game with even luck.

Carrigan needs to be dropped. Minimal impact as a runner, constantly offside, weak in defensive contact and slow in the ruck. Just bad. Needs a lot of time in Q Cup.

Nah have to disagree sometimes you need to go to the game to understand the impact... you don’t get spoonfed statistics and analysis and it allows you to just focus on the gameplay itself... Carrigan whilst he has to fix some of the little things was easily in the top 5 performers in my books

Same with Flegler if he got a bit of discipline and could get to his marker quickly he would be close to the best prop in the game

While I do think he's a bit overrated on here, there's no way he should be dropped. Who would even replace him, Kennedy?

I was at the game and he wasn’t. You need to pay attention to who’s involved with offloads, because he was one of the tacklers for several of the Parra offloads. You also need to pay attention to being an effective marker, which he almost never is.
In attack he is serviceable, but in defence he is quite poor.

him not getting to marker gave Mahoney his try, and he let Parra offload for Paulos try also. He doesn’t impress me at all. Bullemore was better.

Exactly this. We don’t have other options but he should play less minutes. His defence is a real issue. He needs to position himself better in tackles and improve on the wrestle. Turpin, Glenn, Teo, Flegler, TPJ and Asiata before the injury were doing a great job of getting the attacker on their back, slowing the play the ball and allowing them to get set. A lot of the tackles cardigan was involved in he was still on the floor after the play the ball (including Mahoney’s try)
He is good enough to be in the 17, but he isn’t anywhere near as good as people say he is and needs to play less minutes. He reminds me of Offa...

Yeah no shit his defence is bad our whole teams is pretty weak still but he is claiming the man did **** all in attack which is complete bullshit he was just short of 200 metres and had close to 80 contact metres... yes I completely believe their is an aspect of his game that needs work but by no means should he be dropped... no matter what system or team he is in he is in their side week in week out... the only issue is that his defence probably would have been fixed by now at other clubs

I said he was serviceable in attack. He did play 80 minutes so around 200 metres is about what you would expect to be fair.

I actually think the rest of our team defended really well. The tries on the edge came after Herbie had to move with Coates going down, and both tries up the middle were basically directly because of cardigan so there’s that...

No I wasn’t talking about you I was talking about another bloke I edited but anyway

Good try Donkos, for a minute there I was worried we'd lose to the wooden spooners.

I said he has minimal impact as a runner. He runs the ball, sure, but he never bends the line. He never threatens with his hands. He doesn't have go forward.

Straight into the line, plonk to ground, play the ball. Getting that from anyone.

The less said about the defence the better. Lots of tackles but they're all third man in. Never wraps the ball - this led to the offload for the Paulo try. On the ground for the Mahoney try.

When Haas comes back he wouldn't be in my 17.

Yep, same feeling here...no impact, no mongrel.

Now that Lodge is out, he has to be the prop for the opening 15-20mns every half but definitely should be on the bench when the game is on the line and every defensive error crucial.

Yeah and after the try where he was on the floor didn’t take any ownership of it or show any disappointment or anger in himself. Everyone makes mistakes but he’s one of the players that doesn’t play with enough passion in my opinion. Croft was shit and shouldn’t have stuffed up that try but he was filthy with himself for it. When cardigans on the floor he just slowly got up and was like oh they scored.

Foxsports have Carrigan for 136 meters off 19 carries with 59 PCM.
