Round 1 Discussion

Oops, you guys in QLD are catching this delayed, sorry for spoiling it.

The SBW "thoughts" thing is possibly the worst thing I've ever heard. Ever. Doesn't help that he's been mediocre too so far (QLD broadcast).

Cheers Edo.

Interesting first half.

Will start with 9's presentation. Usually don't care, footy is footy but the SBW stuff has been unavoidable. First off the opening video with some random announcer guy acting like SBW was gag-worthy. I didn't think it could get much worse...than they started broadcasting SBW's 'inner thoughts' OMG kill me.

Footy action has been interesting.

Roosters started stronger but Rabbitohs thanks to the boot of Reynolds and a bunch of penalties hit back to lead 16-6. Don't think the penalty count should be the way it is, but Rabbitohs certainly deserve the lead.

Stand outs for each side...

Roosters: Pearce & JWH.

Rabbitohs: GI, Reynolds, Burgess, Luke, Te'o & Lima.

Reynolds is my pick for man of the match so far, although I think Lima's efforts deserve a wrap too. His introduction seemed to really swing the momentum to Souths failures.

Too much SBW, seriously. The whole voice over thing was annoying as ****.

I also hate the new scoreboard, seriously right in the middle and that big? The score shouldn't interrupt the viewing experience, back to the corners please!

I like the design of the scoreboard but it should be in the corner.

All the SBW jizz gave me the shits so I loved it when Sammy burgess turned him into a speed bump near the end of the first half.

Rabbits open the season with an emphatic 28-10 performance.

Good performance from them. Their spine really controlled things nicely and I thought S. Burgess and the bench really turned the tide.

Roosters showed some decent signs but conceded way too many penalties. It's only Round 1, but it shows that throwing your cash at problems isn't going to necessarily fix everything.

Probably has the best short distance kicking game in the world.

Don't think he's up to Origin though. Still lacks a running, passing and long distance kicking game.

Yeah, I agree. And considering how bad Pearce has been in Origin, I'm glad they are the two front runners.

The Roosters need to improve their discipline as they gave away some stupid penalties that piggybacked Souths out of their half. Really dominant performance by the Rabbitohs imo, the Roosters lacked cohension throughout the game and got steamrolled up front. Can 9 get of Sonny's **** about the whole thing, his inner thoughts thing was annoying as hell.

Might as well give my thoughts.

I'd be pretty happy if I was a souths supporter, I thought they were perfect and couldn't have played any better for a round 1 game.

Roosters started off strongly and I thought they would've improved their discipline this year... Boy was I wrong, the penalties they gave away were atrocious. I know it's still early days but they have a lot of work to do.

I have to say I feel the penalty count did help us a fair bit. Obviously gave us a fair few sets to dominate a bit more. I am starting to see us play a lot more like the Storm every week. The defence was improved in some situations when I believe 2 years ago under Lang and maybe last year they score.

The backline plays to Merritt left the Roosters in terrible numbers. George Burgess has really stepped up a level and can't wait to see George and Tom doing the same thing every weekend, hopefully. When George scored his try, Mrs Burgess was 2 seats in front and was so excited she leaped into the aisle and almost fell down the stairs at SFS.

Other great moment was some Bulldogs group about 8 guys holding a "SBW we haven't forgotten" sign. At some point about 7 bays of Souths supporters including the Bulldogs group started a "Sonny's a wanker" chant. Then shorty after those Bulldogs fans were welcomed into the Burrow. Classic moment of rivals getting on for a better hatred.

Back to the footy. I think we might lose Sammy for a week but he played great again. Reynolds pin point as always but geeze he was hit late about 4-5 times until they finally connected with a good one, almost Ben Walker like. Inglis is a freak as usual. Chris McQueen had an excellent match. If we ever think of getting rid of Issac for Farrah, is just completely stupid. Did feel sorry for Peats though, didn't get a lot of game time. Jeff Lima was the forward that Eddy Pettybourne couldn't live up to being. Sutton very strong.

All I can say is thank **** the footy is back.

Did anyone watch Sterlo's show last night?. I enjoyed it and thought it was good.

Bunnies look brutal this year. Hopefully they aren't soured by injuries and Origin and can have a real crack.

Not taking anything away from the Bunnies but Tuivasa-Sheck did a few favours for Merritt's 3 tries rushing in off the wing.

Roosters were never in the game though. SBW - that commentary... LOL. So glad Burgess laid him out a couple of times.
