POST GAME Round 10 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos

I dunno how I'm even being that tough, I just said that he's an average bench forward, the stats more or less back that up, I've only been harping on about it because of people claiming that he's the second coming of Shane Webcke and going to play Origin within the next 2 years, that's just completely unrealistic for a guy who comes across as just being a decent first grader.

I get that. I just don't think you're giving him the credit he actually deserves. I can't see him not being signed by Bennett.

I'm not comparing those players to Jarrod Wallace, I was responding to mitch, who claimed that International forwards are unable to attain 10 metres per run and 10 runs per game.

I know. But you are still playing with averages. I'm sure in at least one or two points in every single player on your list, they went through periods of having a few errors in their games. That's the beauty of averages, it hides a lot of important detail.

I have no idea what you just said, could you repeat that?

Put the poking stick away, no need to rile things up mate.

I probably am being too harsh on Wallace realistically, I got triggered when someone mentioned Origin. He's improved a lot over the last couple of seasons, and he's still young enough to polish his game a bit more and become a good first grader, still got a long way to go before he should be even mentioned for Origin contention though.

I'm still personally hoping that some of our younger stocks plays so well in the lower grades that they force their way into the 17.

In your post about what makes a bench prop for you. You said they need to make 10 metres a carry and make no errors or give away a penalty.

You were then told that that player doesn't exist and you then post a list of players that all quite regularly make errors or concede a penalty.

That was one person, in one post that said they could see it happening.

No one claimed that it was a certainty or that he was the second coming of anyone.

I think you will find it was WB last year that said Wallace had the potential to play origin and some on here have probably not forgotten his comments.

Yeah there was an article that said he was rated "a future Origin prop by Broncos coach Wayne Bennett", no direct quotes or anything, but yeah.

QUEENSLAND have struck back against NSW in the Origin eligibility tug of war with Broncos prop Jarrod Wallace finally being cleared to represent the Maroons.

A year after controversially losing Ipswich-born Luke Keary to the Blues, the Maroons have scored an eligibility victory for a player rated a future Origin prop by Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.

Wallace is the most contentious Origin aspirant since the NRL’s beefed-up eligibility rules were introduced in 2012.

Born on the Gold Coast, he spent six years playing junior football and attending school south of the border after his father Craig took up coaching posts in Mudgee and Sawtell.

Wallace, who moved to NSW aged 12, was so unsure of his Origin status he asked The Sunday Mail for help to determine his eligibility. He considers himself a Queenslander, having grown up dreaming of wearing Maroon and following in the footsteps of his idol, Broncos legend Shane Webcke.

When we contacted the NRL for an answer yesterday, elite programs manager Gareth Holmes said: “Jarrod is a Queenslander. I’ve got his eligibility form right in front of me and under the five questions, Jarrod has three in favour of Queensland.

“There’s no confusion, he’s definitely eligible for Queensland.’’

Wallace’s availability is a coup for the Maroons. While he is not on their radar this season, the 23-year-old is alongside Josh McGuire, Dylan Napa and Korbin Sims as Queensland’s next generation of forwards.

Wallace would have been a Blue under the code’s former rules as he played his first senior game at 16 for Sawtell Panthers on the NSW north coast.

Like Broncos teammate Jack Reed, the 108kg prop is also eligible for England via his grandmother but has his heart set on wearing Maroon.

“That’s the best news I’ve heard all year, better than when Wayne Bennett told me I was playing in the first round,” said Wallace when told of his clearance to play for Queensland.

“I played my first senior game in NSW and I thought that was it, I’m with the Blues.

“I’ve always considered myself a Queenslander, 100 per cent. Growing up, I always supported Queensland, even when my family moved to NSW I’d tell the locals I’m Maroon through and through.”

so your beef is with kevvie naming him in his origin emerging squad?

Queensland is pretty light on young forwards brother, Kev also named Jason Bukuya and Tim Glasby in the same squad, I wouldn't be reading too much into that.

Speaking of Ofahengaue for a bit, according to his bio he's supposed to be 112KG. But is it just me, or does he look smaller than our other forwards?

Yeah there's no way he's 112kg.

Adam Blair is 105kg and they look about the same size to me.

Wallace has been better than Myles this year.

Wallace could potentially play Origin in the next few years if he continues on the upward trajectory he is on, which I think he will.

I can see it now, Wallace starting front rower for Queensland and Australia and unbreakable still calling for a young forward to take his spot in the first grade team

If Jarrod Wallace starts for Queensland at any point I will delete my BHQ account, never to be seen or heard from again.
