Round 11 - Roosters vs Broncos

Where was this said?

Because this is different, Keary was eligible for both states so if he wanted to play for QLD he could have.

TPJ is completely ineligible for QLD doing his junior career in Newcastle.

Were you off the Internet when the Keary debate all went down? He openly said he was a Qlder and wanted to play for Qld but according to the ligibility change a few years back, he only qualified for NSW.

he grew up in Ipswich, but once they changed the eligibility rules he wasn't eligible for QLD (I'm not sure if he was under the old rules either TBF)

i'm pretty sure this all went down while he was still at Souths, but he wrote several letters to the NRL CEO at the time damn near begging to play for QLD ... his pleas fell on deaf ears

I remember it well, except it was the exact opposite of what you guys have claimed: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...s/news-story/d6d8e651f822d529404ba38ef41b16bb

This was the case when he was about to be selected though, I'm unaware of what happened years before if he did change.

It's a different scenario to TPJ though because he said his comments about QLD right after he rejected playing for them(which probably had Fittler butthurt).

Yep as mentioned above, he totally changed his tune when he was about to be selected (and then went on to be one of Qld's best in his one game for NSW ironically). He was always a professed Qlder until it became apparent he was on the verge of NSW selection.

He should have been eligible for Queensland, his Dad, Jim( Jumbo ) Keary sat beside me in class in Ipswich. I don't know what made him a nsw player but perhaps Jim moved to nsw when Luke was a teen and he played down there?

By the looks of things it came down to the fact he had lived most his life in NSW by the time he got selected, had he played first grade for a QLD side for a couple of years prior it would of been enough to tip it back to QLD.

Either way the eligibility rules seem broken, as far as im concerned if your born in a state that alone should atleast make you eligible for that state if you choose, that is literally your origin.

Look, I don't know for certain where he was born or when he moved south so I cannot say. I think you're right though. First criteria is state in which you were born. That should be number one. After that where you grew up predominantly. Next where you played your first senior football maybe?

According to Wikipedia, he moved to Sydney when he was 10. That was early enough that the majority of his schooling and junior footy were played down south, tipping the scales in NSW's favour.

I'm looking in there for the rule that states if you are put on report four times, and sin binned twice in the one game then you are gonski for origin I and II. But I couldn't find it. :rofl
That document is from 2012, it hasn't been updated with the Dickhead Provision yet.

My son is nearly 9, he bleeds maroon to the bone. I couldn't imagine him ever being forced to play for NSW even if we moved there and lived there for the next 20 years. I always felt Keary was NSW's revenge for Inglis. Darn shame it backfired.

The rules are completely skewed in favour of where you attended school and 4 of the 6 criteria are basically redundant. If you attended school in NSW, you'd also be playing club footy in NSW, playing junior rep carnivals in NSW and playing for NSW Schoolboys.

The only answer is to never leave Queensland, and why would you want to leave God's country?

the old rules were a hell of a lot simpler and didn't need changing:

i.e where you play your first game of senior footy after you turn 16.

the only reason it got changed was because NSW didn't spend 5 minutes checking GI's claim that he was QLD eligible. hell if the footy show could do it, then surely the NSWRL governing body (who are in charge of all footy in that state could have figured it out)

Crichton also whinging about his suspension because his contact was a "genuine mistake"

i could be wrong ... but i don't believe contact being a "genuine mistake" is a valid defense to a dangerous contact charge. lol

I don’t agree with how the crackdown is being implemented but this is pretty dumb from VR.

“I’m a very good driver. Just because the laws changed after I already had my license, it doesn’t mean I have to stop texting while I drive.”
He and Gould look even more stupid because the rules haven't changed. Radley would be in trouble for his head highs before the crackdown. What has changed is that he was binned. If he had another jersey on he may well have been sent.

That's the only reason you're getting off, all contact with the head is deemed unnecessary and careless unless you can prove it was accidental- unavoidable.
