Round 11 - Roosters vs Broncos

5 years ago Voss was my favourite caller. Even up until recently I have enjoyed his calling. But after tonight, with his Roosters cheerleading, I'm done.

FFS, he was saying bullshit like Asiata's try was "in the process of losing it", like there was no separaion, there was no bobble, he hadn't actually lost it, but he was in the "process of losing it". That's what happens with every fucking pat-down when someone grabs the ball mid-air and forces it down.

Also, if you listen to the ref before Radley's hit on Coates, he was calling him off-side by name. The penalty was blown even before the second hit on the ground, but of course the commentators were blowing up that the ref was penalising him for hitting him too hard around the ribs. The only reason he was put on report was for the cheap shot the ground, but the penalty had already been given.

Also also, it's amazing how squeaky clean JWH has been since the rules have come in. Ordinarily he'd be good for 3 or 4 cheap head shots a game, and he was defended by the commentary as "just a tough player". The fact that he can eradicate those shots on command says to me that they weren't just incidental contact from playing tough, they were deliberate head shots intended to put the opposition off. Radley on the other hand, looks like he has a lot of re-learning to do if he wants to continue his career in the NRL.

Here in NZ the NRL is screened on Sky, and we used to have this amazing feature where you could switch between Fox and 9 commentary (where applicable), or simply turn all commentary off and just watch the game with the audio feed from the ground. We've lost it recently and I just wanted to say that I really, really miss it. Having to listen to Voss and co go on about how brilliant Sualii is ad infinitum, criticising Radley's 4th on report for his dog shot on Coates ("that's play on!"), downplaying Hetherington's debut, not to mention virtually willing the Roosters back into it down 14... why are they going for 2, they still need 2 tries, and I reckon they can do it too, there's time! Just need to score in this set... no... now they just need to score in this set... oh the Broncos have scored. STFU. Just so many things.

Lodge was superb, stoked with the way he lead from the front and to see him laying down the law after we scored in the first half was great. TPJ brilliant, Asiata, Kelly good. Still not 100% sure what to do with my hands, always takes a while to wind down after games like this lol.

And there was not even a mention of Meads hattrick of tries, if tedesco had scored three tries he would’ve “single handedly destroyed the hapless Broncos”, atleast according to Vossy..... the muppet.

"Look, I don't care what anyone says. We can't allow ball runners to lead head-first into a defender's forearm and take out our genuine superstars like Victor Radley. We need to get this out of our game and we will."

- V'landys next week probably

Lodge, Haas and TPJ were so good. Glad they were rightly praised in the presser.

Haas looked good in 2nd stint after what seemed like a longer break. This was only possible becuase of how well Lodge went.

Also seemed like Lodge was doing alot of talking in the huddles. Great great game from him. That was pre covid Lodge
I think Lodge would make a great captain.
