POST GAME Round 11 - Warriors vs Broncos

Great defensive game, in a way I’m surprised we didn’t get pinged more for the ruck, but that was as much Klein and the Warriors trying to play touch footy.

Turps was great, unfortunately got hit a few times in a row for pens, but still showed the difference at 9 (again continually). Haas and Lodge were excellent as well.

Special mention to Glenn. I’ve been a big critic of his the past 12-18 months, but he was great tonight. Making lots of metres in a game where we typically struggle for them and made some crucial tackles

Milf continues to be awesome, particularly his long kicks. Seems to have confidence in his running game again too

Dearden’s kicking game obviously needs time to improve; he needs to have a few less long attempts. Luckily our chase and defence nullified the advantage they gained. He’s dying to score and nearly got over tonight. Still very happy with him because even if he doesn’t do many tangibles in attack, he fits well with Milf and is a fantastic defender.

Jamayne needs to get very familiar with a ball machine. With Farnworth and Staggs both goal kickers, he needs to start being more valuable again. Also noticed Kotoni is taking kickoffs.

Boyd was great in defence again. A few fuckups, but the effort and intent is there, which is all we want, because once that is there, he usually has a positive outcome. Start of the season his collision with the ref would’ve left him sprawled on the ground and the Warriors score

Or it's due to Roberts not being in the team.

Our right side defence was still fragile even without Niko. Then we dropped Roberts and suddenly, it's better.

There was only 1 game without Niko and that was Deartden's first game and against a red hot rabbitohs. I agree roberts isnt great in defence, But I don't think he's that god awful either. And at least he brings some speed to the team. I'm not saying bring him in, but if Shibasaki is the best we got... **** me.

Pretty much. It doesn't say much for our backline stocks. Shibasaki would struggle to make the starting side literally anywhere else.

I honestly don't know why we don't give Fifita a shot there... He's been good when he has filled in there in the past, played most of his juniors there etc. He honestly has to be just as fast as shibasaki and is definitelty a lot more dangerous and talented. Would also allow us to play Carrigan, Flegler and Joffa on bench.

And even Haas got driven back on his first hitup a fair way, and he is a monster. Lodge dropped ball, Haas gave away dumb penalties. I could keep going on about players with errors, but luckily they didnt let their heads drop. You are talking rubbish if thats what you are judging him on.

I do wonder how you going to credit his contributions to the game?

Everyone watches the same game, but you are the one constantly has to give all the credit to your boy, I seriously don’t know what good you could do to him. If you love him, stop this kind of ‘so called ‘ fact ‘ . Try to help your boy see his true weekness and work on it. That’s what can really bring the boy develop.

Yeah, I think people are contributing the improvement in our right side defence to Roberts not being there, for mine, its more due to Nikorima not being there. Nikorima truly was god awful on the edge. Dearden hasn't totally set the world alight just yet, but hes definitely a better defensive option than Nikorima.

...absolutely....yeh that's a great point. Dearden is strong 1 on 1 defender as you can already see that the right edge defender and centre don't jam in which creates space for the opposition outside runners...that was Kodis biggest issue. Now the edge defence is spaced correctly and can make the right decisions in defence.

Id like to see Dearden continue to do this, as I'm sure his offensive game will start to come to the fore...

wonder if he kept telling Siebs how hookers aren't supposed to pass from dummy half and hit the second runner and constantly pass the ball in front of his halves...

19 post contact metres from 13 runs. Not exactly what you want from a back. That was even less than the 21 from 12 runs for Isaako.

Average play the ball speed 4 seconds. Only player slower was Gillett 4.2 and Boyd (no surprise) 4.4.

An error, a penalty and basically never posing any threat with with the ball.

He's not making 100 errors a game or anything, but shit, he isn't a first grader.

previously I think Fox used them to save a bit of cash, now they aren't. Thank god. They were god awful.

**** me...Haas with 185 metre tonight.....since metres gained have been recorded, no prop under the age of 19 has averaged more than 150 metres a game. Haas is averaging 175 metres a game..!!!!!!!! He is arguably the best young prop in the game this century......

well...until Fifita takes Glenns job that is...
