POST GAME [Round 12, 2024] Broncos vs Titans

Same performance we’ve been dishing up every week.

Way too many stupid errors, getting totally out worked in the middle of the field, no composure to create go-forward momentum and build attack off the back of that, just out-enthused by a hungrier team.

We see it every week and some here label it as ‘winning gritty’ and act like it’s some badge of honour to win when playing poorly - that only applies when it’s one ‘off’ game… not when every game is poor.

We are not even close to the same team as last year, even ignoring injuries. The talent is there, we should be destroying teams but everything we do is soft… our hit ups are soft, our defence is so passive, we are getting dominated physically every game.

Not sure what the problem is, but we are no chance of making a finals run the way we’re playing, and it’s not going to get any easier with Origin coming.

This could be the wake up call we sorely needed.
100% on this, plenty of talent but this roster is NOT playing as a team. This is on KW as much as the players. Some attitudes need adjusting alright, as they are simply not playing for each other. I had a sinking feeling this was exactly how it would play out today. Impressed with the improvement of Jock Madden though, sorry , but absolute dogshit performance today Broncos.

I will watch the game later, but were we bad or just had an off night like every team does occasionally?
We have had a mixed bag of games this year that has ranged from unbeatable to spoon worthy and wondering if we got lucky with the wins or just in a slump?
All of their first half tries were under 9s stuff. We really should have blown them off the park by then.

This Broncos team is just a fun & flashy ride .. They'll probably win more than they lose this year, no trouble at all, and that's OK given where this club was three or four years ago.. but they don't have the starch, the defensive hunger, the structure or the resolve to be anything more than 'all star' entertainment two out of every three or so weeks ..

Until they decide they want to be something better than this ^

exactly this. Walsh and Mam are both guilty of it massively. Only want to be around the ball in attack and want nothing to do with it in defence. They want to make the highlight reels and let the other boys do the rest..

**** I hate Sundays. We always seem to get shown up.

Terrible defence, it felt like the Titans were strolling in every time. Karapani must have thought Oates was in row 4 because that pass was embarrassing. Piss poor attitude, carrying injuries everywhere, players dead tired from a horrid start to the year.

Frankly the bye has been about 3 weeks too late getting here.

I’d be interested to see our post game thread from the corresponding fixture last year…..were we this pessimistic?

and that's why we're third or fourth rung .. because tough, ruthless teams turn up Thursday nights, Sunday afternoons, whenever, wherever .. they don't have these illogical hoodoos

We need to get Kearney or Corvo back to the club to coach some ruthless aggression into our defence. Relying on flashy shit from the likes of Walsh and Mam everytime is not going to get us to where we need to be.

I haven't seen it but the answer would be yes.

Some are even pessimistic after we win.

I’d say we’re more pessimistic this year because our expectations are much higher for this team. We know our team is good but they’re not performing.

What a horrible fucking game to attend, I haven't been for over a year and that's what I got to witness. From where we were watching, it looked like the Broncos couldn't wrap the ball up. So many half-arse grabby tackles allowing offloads and half breaks, meaning our defence was constantly retreating and completely lost every time they put on a play. Every time they got down our end, if they didn't drop it or Mam got a fluky catch, they scored. Just absolutely pathetic.

And fucking Walsh. He's believing in his own hype and still trying to pull off bullshit every play. No composure. He's looking for miracle passes so keeps the ball loose, which is easily jolted free when tackled. Or firing no-look bullet passes that are fucking impossible to catch, particularly under pressure. We can score points, 34 points suggests as much, we don't need to score every fucking set, but the errors that result from this shit are what put us under defensive pressure and fatigue us. 34 points should be enough to win 90% of games, conceding 36 points is the issue, and low-percentage brain fart hero plays are why Reece needs to look at players like Krisnan Inu to see how his career trajectory may go.
