Round 12 - Broncos vs. Warriors - Post Match Discussion

He's right. Don't try to make something of nothing unless you have something to back your claims up.

It clearly was just a wild guess, why not? Did it hurt your feelings? It's a forum for crying out loud, where else are we supposed to air our stupid, uneducated, baseless comments?

Perspective always. We had 6 key players out AND Hook made strange selection choices which seriously back fired.

We have played our best football with Wallace and Prince in the halves and it should stay that way for the rest of this year - nobody has yet proved this wrong yet

Hunt's time is clearly not now - and good reasons or not, his form is ordinary. If he is to play in the halves in the future, he should be either in QCup OR Hook drops Wallace or Prince or Macca - simple as that.

Until someone teaches this team how to defend as a team, and how to tackle effectively, this season, and all to come, will be garbage - simple as that

... and the same goes for support play

We desperately need leadership on and off the field - simple as that

No "X" factor player will make a shred of difference to this side until it learns how to defend

You guys are being a bit harsh warriors would have beaten any team last night. They had all the ball all the confidence all the luck (bounces and such) and all the ref decisions. When we had the ball we looked good. Our largest issue was not slowing down the play the ball which meant every tackle they got a quick play the ball and every set they were in attacking position. If it weren't for hints kicks, a few bad ref decisions and a few unlucky bounces we could have won that game.

This isn't even about the loss it is about how we lost IMO. A loss was on the cards from the outset but getting smashed like that is unacceptable.

The major issue was.... line speed in defence. We simply gave their quick guys all the space and time in the world to tear us to shreds

Make stuff up all you like. Don't post it on BroncosHQ.

the line speed was a result of their big fellas running consistently at our small forwards. we just could not compete with their size and the play the ball speed from them just didnt allow us to have any line speed.

not to mention mateo seems to have found his spark and was throwing alot of short balls at the line/offloads/etc etc

wallace hunt macca & prince all in the defensive line at the same time is no good especially when we have no real big forwards either. imagine if we were up against souths and the burgess brothers last night.. could of been 80-0

im gutted we got smashed by so many. i just hope it sparks something within the team becuase that scoreline is pathetic. if it was 36 ish to 14 then you could cop it, because in honesty, the warriors played the best game they've played in two years. they didnt make errors, every pass hit the mark, and the bounce of the ball went their way every time.

I reckon our forwards aren't that small and in any case, we let them run 5 metres before we even moved most of the time. That's all the time Johnson, Locke, Mateo, Leului needed to get the plays going AND there was always someone in support

Tunza wasn't that big and he could drop an elephant 'cos he knew how to tackle and he enjoyed hitting hard

well none of the that crop last night look like hitting hard so its something we better address along with the other 500 issues :D

Yeah saw plenty of that when Donald blew past him and he couldn't get a hand on him.

Please.

yeah cause whitchurch was an awesome selection? please.

I don't give a shit about kemp either way, I'm not a groupie, but the guy loves playing for brisbane and he is always going to give you 100%

frankly, i'd rather that than "safe selections" that backfire because the players aren't suited/aren't good enough. kemp, at one time, has shown he is good enough to play nrl at this level. whitchurch, at no point thus far, has proven this.

Whitchurch has nothing to do with it. You sited Kemp's want and desire as a reason he should be there. Yet two weeks ago his want and desire saw him get dusted up with no effort.

Did you watch the try? Check the footage.

When it's a choice between the two, then he has everything to do with it. Kemp was dropped because Whitchurch was a bigger body, a bigger body that failed to do the basics of a winger. Whitchurch isn't the reason we lost, not by a long shot, but it's these little tinkers here and there that make no sense. We have finally seen/remembered what it's like to have a consistent try scoring threat on the wing, so instead of putting a second in, we throw in a guy who should really be playing 2nd row. Potency indeed.

I'll watch the video so I'm not ignorant/close minded, but let me ask you this: regardless of your personal bias or views on it, do you think kemp would perform better or worse than he is in Qcup, if he was playing NRL, and as a part two, who do you think would be a better winger for the side, when taking into account a wingers job (catching a ball, defending, having the ability to beat a man with speed etc etc)?

Because personally, Kemp is far more suitable in that regard in my opinion.

Edit: Seen the video, so kemp got dusted from a standing start against someone at full stride? yep, convinced me he's a worse option than ol butterfingers.

It was an opinion, a guess, it had no substantial evidence and not once did I claim it was fact. You could tell that from the post. You're just trying to make something out of nothing because I've hurt your feelings or something.

You're the one trying to make something out of nothing, just because your feelings for Kemp got hurt, so you decided to make something up to soothe your manlove for him.

It's called speculation, and it was implying discord between Kemp and the rest of the player's group. It's a pretty serious accusation to throw around based on absolutely nothing and backed by absolutely nonexistent evidence or even rumours.

I know the Warriors players were bigger than ours, so they were going to make more ground. But every single time they got in our half you just knew if they didn't make a mistake they would score. Defensively we're weak. That's not got a lot to do with tactics. I don't even think it has that much to do with positioning. There were some bad reads, but most of the defensive errors were simply weak tackles. Weak tackles are caused not by lack of strength, but lack of commitment. The players weren't desperate to stop the Warriors.

And so they didn't.

Actually, I went through the exercise with the originally listed side of comparing the weights of the packs, and with the reserves, we outweighed their pack by 25 kg. How that finished up with the run on side I don't know.
