Round 12 - Broncos vs. Warriors - Post Match Discussion

I got the sense that they had no idea what they were doing. Honestly, look at Macca, all game he looked confused because he was out of position. They had no idea where to pass, who to pass to, who to kick etc.

They knew from the get go that they would lose. And they ran with it. Pathetic.

It has to be at the coaching level, I can see no other reason for such a terrible performance.

Macca looks confused all the time regardless of position. I think hoffman needs to be fullback as he's our best player atm. Sack norman immediately and have kemp on wing outside of reed. Prince to half back

I agree with you AP, but that is never ever ever ever ever going to happen with Griffin at the helm. Hunt, the poor kid had no forwards creating the ground work for him, there was no momentum, how the hell can he do any good when collectively as a team we don't even crack the 1000m in meters gained????!?! No half could work off of those numbers (932m vs 1536m)

Hunt was one of our worst last night. And most games he plays he's pretty fucking terrible. The decisions he makes when he has the ball in his hand are dumb most of the time.

But, he NEEDS to be tested in the 7 jersey. Hook won't do it though. Hook's a little bitch and really doesn't seem like a good coach anymore.

Does anyone know why the **** there were such big changes last night, and why Kemp didn't get a run?

I reckon something happened between Kemp and some of the other players.

i dont know happened last night. i'm not even mad about it. i feel like the warriors played the best game i've seen them play in two years. we simply couldnt keep up and our lack of size was absolutely no match for their big men. its hard to have line speed when they are repeatedly bending us back and bouncing up with kick play the balls. initially we defended well on the line but just could not keep up.

i really worry about our cover defense on the inside. it always seems to be our major weakness and it showed last night.

trying to ignore the bad things.

wallace at hooker was good i thought. prince looked sharp early on. hunt really struggled again, which is disappointing. with those three plus macca we just had too little fellas for their forwads to run at. sure wallace and macca can make a good tackle but its not defense which will push them back.

dont konw where we go from here. will be interesting to see the side named. if hook has balls he'll give this spine another go.

I would imagine hook was worried about the warriors size and our lack of size, hence Whitchurch picked ahead of kemp or maranta. We just didn't have the size or depth to cover our missing forward pack. The bigger concern for me was that despite a clear disadvantage up front we persisted with Norman at the back and his weak returns which put us on the back foot and struggling to get out of our own end from the start of every set. It was apparent against the bulldogs as well, where despite having the majority of our forward pack we were still too small to compete against bigger bodies. There's not much point in keeping Norman at fb for his ball skills if his weak returns mean we wont get a chance to use them, baring penalties, which have become a crucial element in our game plan.

Stop spinning bullshit and making everything out to be scandalous.

Sorry about that dad, you always give me a kick up the pants when I need it. Won't happen again and please don't take my allowance away this time.

He's right. Don't try to make something of nothing unless you have something to back your claims up.

S**t, that was a tough game to watch. What the hell happened is anyones guess.

Rugby league isn't a tough game to work out. Ruck it up, kick to the corner and defend, ruck it up, kick to the corner and defend...all night long. Unfortunatley, we didn't do any of that at all last night. Belted thru the middle, kicking game was pretty poor and the defence, well....

Agree AP, Hunt needs a go, a solid go at that. 3 consectuive games is nothing and people want him gone completley, give the guy a break!

SJ & Locke...come on down (over) please please please

Anthony Griffin = Worst half time motivational speaker in the world. Seriously though, what does he say to the team? After being down 26-8 (?) surely you would expect the team to come out firing in the second, instead it got worse, much worse. Up until now the Broncos have been fighting to the very end even when losing to ensure that the score line remained respectable, but last was pretty disgraceful stuff.

we came out better in the second half for about 6 mins until a grubber went into mateos foot and they raced away for a try. it was all over again at that point.

not good enough at all. its an embarassing loss. its all about how we turn it around next week (and beyond). no point dwelling on how bad it was but the team needs to find something within after that.

I don't, I think Griffin just went with someone bigger cause he thought it would help. At the risk of setting off the debate he's done it before with Gagai.

I think we should've just stuck with Kemp, at least we might've had some heart and desire in the side.

I don't think Aaron Whitchurch got much of a chance to prove himself, albeit he made 2 costly errors, 1 that cost a try and another that nearly did, but the ground was absolutely dogshit muddy crap and he had Jack Reed on his inside who had at least 2 opportunities to pass it to Aaron down the sideline and decided to dummy and step back in field, I wouldn't mind seeing how Aaron goes outside Hodges for a few games before I write him off.

Whitchurch did look kind of lost out on the wing. He has been playing centres for the Dolphins IIRC. His selection had merit because Hook wanted to get some size to combat the big Warriors backs

Neil Henry might be looking for a club

Yeah let's get a coach that has some how managed to make a top 4 squad on paper look like a bunch of tards... He will work well with our lot

I know it was a shitty surface and a shitty bounce but the fact that Whitchurch was "a bigger body!" meant that his agility and getting quickly to the ground were hampered by his size. I'm not saying Kemp definitely would have dived on the ball and stopped a try, but, when you pick someone on the basis of their size and then their size inhibits them to do certain tasks at critical points, well, you have to question the value of the original selection?

Random player comment: Maybe we should have a "punch McCullough in the face" fan day. I'm sure it would be a success, I'd buy 5 tickets for myself.

I know that's totally irrational but everytime I see his shit eating grin on the broncos promos for the next home game, I just want to clock him. It is the smirk of a man that knows the broncos buy into the sunk-cost fallacy and therefore is not in danger anytime soon.

No more lost than Maranta every time he sees the football coming his way.
