GORDEN Tallis has lashed out at Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett for appointing Adam Blair to the Broncos captaincy for Friday night’s clash with Wests Tigers.
Tallis, a former Bronco, claims the appointment sends a bad message to young players and is designed to deliberately rile him after his frank assessments of Bennett’s negative commentary on the game.
Blair’s appointment follows a dangerous tackle by the Broncos hard man on teammate Sam Thaiday during this month’s Test.
“I have never walked away from a fight in my life,” Tallis said.

Gorden Tallis has lashed out at Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.“I’m not worried about Wayne Bennett. He has me in his sights but I’m not stupid. I went to a lunch yesterday and asked everyone in the room if they liked chicken wings. Nobody put their hands up.
“Wayne is deliberately trying to get to me. I voted against giving him the job at the Cowboys when I was on the board there. This Blair appointment is another way for him to have a crack at me.”
Tallis played under Bennett at the Broncos but says he never planted chicken wings on anyone.
“Wayne never supported these sort of tackles,” Tallis said.
“He said tackle hard and fair but he never told us to go out to deliberately hurt the opposition.
“Blair learnt how to do it at the Storm and now he’s leading the team around the paddock and setting a bad example.”
