I share your misgivings about Macca. I just think he needs to be given a chance

Maybe Wayne has had a word to him about it and he hasn't responded with the actions Wayne requires ??

Who knows ?!?

Being one who attends a few training sessions i can tell you Macca isn't the most vocal player out there.

Does anyone else think if the young guns excel that maybe Parker will be given the tap on the shoulder... I still think he should play on myself. I'm not talking after one game. After Origin maybe....

I think Parker will play on for at least one more season.

I'd also expect him to take a pay cut to accommodate a lot of the younger talent we have coming through, particularly as he now has a media gig lined up for life after footy.

I was thinking something somewhat similar last night in bed, as much as we all love Gillett, if he's wanting more money than we can afford to offer him, tonight's debut for Su'A & Pangai could have some pretty large ramifications. If one or both of them have absolute blinders on the right edge, Wayne may have a tough call to make - Re-sign Gillett and set back the blooding of these 2 potential superstars, or let Gillett chase the money, put faith in the young guys, and sign Inglis with Gillett's money.

These guys would want to have the best debuts in recorded history to warrant Bennett telling Gillett he is no longer required !

Yeah i haven't been a fan of GI but seeing him back in the front line seems to of revitalized him somewhat. Had a great game in the centres for Australia. Be interesting to see how he plays for Qld.

But it's taking things out of our control and basically gambling on the Sharks and Storm losing that round.

i think the only team capable of losing to the bye is the warriors..

Thanks for that feedback! Out of interest, who is/are the most vocal?

I'm sure GI will be terrific for Qld yet I still cannot possibly see, with the roster we have, existing and up n coming, why on earth we would want him with his injuries, age and the $$$ he would want.

As for Gillett, getting rid of arguably the best back rower in the game in the prime of his career and with his full potential only just now being tapped? Really?

To be talking about moving on Parker based on nothing yet is ridiculous. You only move older players on when the younger player has to be kept, his form is demanding being picked over the older player or you’re going to lose the younger player if you keep the older player.

You don’t do it when the older player is still the best forward at the club, playing origin and Test football and captain, while the younger player hasn’t even played a game of NRL and you haven’t seen any of his other games anyway.

Parker is invaluable to these guys the same way Petero was in 2012.

I think this is actually a pretty important game for us, with the Sharks and Storm on the bye this week a loss will mean that we will slip to being 4 points behind the top spot. Those points could prove difficult to make up.

We need Hunt and Milford to really lift in this game and take control.

I don't think so.

Sharks and Storm are in a purple patch at the moment, but they will be brought back down to earth soon enough. They'll drop a few games and we'll catch up to them.

Who said we should get rid of him?

There's this amazing thing called the salary cap, and funnily enough, sometimes teams can't keep every player they want. If Gillett wants $600k-$800k a season like the media is insinuating, Wayne might have to make a tough call. I want to keep him, I assume every Broncos fan wants to keep him, but if it's going to cost us a bunch of good young players to do so and put us under salary cap pressure moving forward, it's certainly worth at least entertaining the idea of alternative solutions.

Agree of course, however, if one is talking salary cap, and keeping the cream of the young crop, let's focus NOT on buying bloody GI (I really don't want to even think of him in our colours EVER), and also on releasing lesser players than Gillett.

BTW, check out Super Freak's latest vid on Corey Oates - says it all about this great side (and Matt Gillett)

I must be in the minority who think this game will be close. Gut any starting forward pack and it is going to have a big effect.

It might be close because our forward pack is a huge unknown. Blair will have to lift his yardage gain for this one.

We still completely destroy them in the back 7 IMO, even without Boyd and Oatz.

Fairly confident Milf, Hunt and Roberts will win this one on their own

The Tigers will give us a bit of a scare, but we'll finish them off late in the game. Possibly even earlier.

Even without our Origin stars, we're still the better side and we've seen what Hunt and Milford can do to weak defences.. Tigers defence will be worse off with their missing players.
